Heard that on the radio this morning. Good stuff.

The reporter was saying that they could reach 24 inches. Thats one large salamander.

Saw my first one in the wild while fishing the other day, had to be 20" or bigger, very cool thing to see. Lucky to get a few shots of it.

Seen that on your report, that is really cool that you were able to see and take pics of it. Could not tell the size by your pic, 20 inches is wild. I would probably be a little intimidated by it had I not read about it for the last 6 years or so in the fishing regs booklets.

Me and a friend saw a Hellbender in Bull Shoals Lake around Beaver Creek this spring. We thought it was a catfish swimming on the surface and got closer and it had legs. I was shocked because I thought they only lived in creeks. It was just swimming along like it knew where it was going. Very neat salamander for sure!

I really hope they can build up the populations. I have never caught one yet while fishing and am waiting for the day.

Thanks for the article. I'm still jelly that you saw one while fishing.
