I'm done with you Cool thanks for being done with me, you really have me crying over spilt milk. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
balsabee Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Why would anyone try duck hunting on a busy recreational lake and not think it would get frustrating at some point? That's like deer hunting on public land and getting pissed because someone walks under your tree stand. I once had a bird dog sit under my stand and bark at me when a group of quail hunters were hunting a nearby field. They had just as much right to be there as I did. On public land and public waters that comes with the territory. You have to ask yourself, what exactly are your expectations when you're dealing with the general public?
Feathers and Fins Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Bals, When you have decoys out to be exact 16 dozen ( in this case ) and someone comes right in and starts casting and running the electric through the decoys that is beyound stupid its Illegal accourding to the law. The expectation is common since ( ya ya i know) but the law is clear in this and that is what I will go on. If im fishing and see decoys out and guys on shore waving me off its pretty easy to get the message. If someone does not move then they are willfully obstruct or impede the participation of any individual in the lawful activity. Please note the underlined is the wording of the law. Now as to the OP's original question I answered it, and finished it off by saying but dont be more concerned about them than you would any other angler. There is a line and when it is crossed it becomes Illegal! If a Pro or a Recreational angler was to come in to where you are fishing and started casting over you and where you are then they too could be guilty of it. Problem is people have gotten to the point they would rather be bullied off a spot and not say something or do something about it. Im tired of it and have started doing things about it and if people dont like it I honestly do not care, but until people do stand up to the bullies it will only get worse! I was at Cabelas the yesterday and heard two guys talking about DUCK COMMANDER and how they were going to try duck hunting this year and how they found a spot and if anyone was there they woudl push them out because it was "their spot" Its those attitudes I am tired of! When i was growing up respect was shown to sportsmen from sportsmen! I dont see it much anymore, I put a lot of blame on the TV personalities who put such a high standard on KILLs and numbers and they will do anything to get it. Also put the blame on so many new people coming to the sports wth no older mentors to show them how and teach them respect. I think back to had i done any of the behavior i see that my dad and grandad would have took a belt to my butt and taken my privledges away for a long time. Sorry its a little long winded, im just real tired of see so little respect shown from the newer geenerations and when you try and correct them you get threatened with a beat down or something else. I just feel its high time they start getting a meeting from Mr Green Jeans and hopfully a nice big citation and suspension of their PRIVLEDGES! Something has to stop it. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
balsabee Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Sorry officer but I didn't realize those ducks were decoys.... Citations and suspensions? That's a long shot and a waste of your weekend. Only in a perfect world. Life's to short. Sorry, but old farts are just as capable of being disrespectful as newer generations and somehow you think your problems will be solved if they only had the belt. You're dreamin!
Members trytofish Posted November 6, 2012 Members Posted November 6, 2012 I am curious, are there written rules of ettiquet? or just common curtesy? Just wondered. would be interesting to read. never been around too many tourney fisherman but have run into plenty of fun fisherman that had no clue about courtesy
*T* Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 This topic inspired me to join OA and comment. Sure professional anglers are working to put food on the table and a few dollars in their pocket, but why is that different than others who work most all of the year to allow themselves and family a few days on the lake? See no reason for recreational anglers to yield to tournament fishermen other than for basic courtesy. "Water is the driving force of all Nature."Â -Leonardo da Vinci

riverfish Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 pretty sure i read it perfectly in a book as a young child it goes "do unto others as you would have done to you" if everyone done this it would solve all our problems as far as "fishing ettiquite" goes maybe even more
Members rogerdodger Posted November 14, 2012 Members Posted November 14, 2012 There is nothing "elite" about tournaments. The people who do well are those who have paid their dues have worked hard to acquire skills. "Tournaments" by their very nature appeal to the baser elements of human nature. You can put any spin on it that you want but greed and pride are big motivators in this world plain and simple. It may sound corny but to many of us angling is a spirtual experience. When I have this view I don't have to win anything or beat others, each day is a blessing and there is no need to yell "thank you Jesus!!" when I land a fish that would put me at the top of the pack. Thinking that I should give up a bank because a "tournament" angler has shown up is laughable. Following one around as a "fan", well that's beyond words. Fishing for money is simply that, fishing for money. It gives veracity to the mantra "if it makes money it must be right" which is sadly the motto of our age. There, that's off my chest.
