Table Rock Lake Master Plan Revision Meeting

Did anyone else get a postcard in the mail about the revision meeting? It doesn't say much but gives dates and places for public meetings starting next week. And does anyone know what a Master Plan revision means? I'm a little gun-shy after hearing all the problems some landowners have had at Lake of the Ozark's.

This website is referenced on the postcard and does a little bit of explaining about what will be evaluated, although without any specifics about what they have in mind. My guess is it would be about more possible public access and boat dock permitting----just my guess though,

I'm wondering if they are soliciting input or just informing us of the plan that has already been finalized.

According to the COE website, they are seeking public input. Whether or not they listen and respond is always questionable.

They claim to be interested in managing the shorelines better, due to higher than planned numbers of users based on 30 year old planning. Plus management of the adjoining Government owned land. When they decide to explain their rationale for the "set-back" lines and the extreme variances in where they are placed,the public might be able to respond, plan and offer input more logically. I know of homesites on extremely steep banks where the owners have built seemingly almost to the water's edge at 928' and other land, directly across the mouth of the same creek arm, where the COE markers are located 200 ft. back or inland of the top of 30 ft. high, vertical bluffs. Someone want to explain that discrepancy ?

The other thing that struck me on reading the postcard was the mid-lake meeting location. Why not meet at a hall in Kimberling City "The Bass Capital of the Ozarks" (according to them ) ? That location would be much closer to the water and residents, businesses, etc. that rely on and live on the Lake are far closer there to the meeting site than up in Reeds Spring...and there are halls/meeting places available there.

As many of us know who have been affected by taking water over the bow, gunwales or transoms of our boats while trying to fish, from these outsize wakes certain boats produce, one area that needs serious attention, before it get's totally out of control like at Lake of the Ozarks, is the size of the boats permitted in the future on the Lake and allowing continued artificial generation of damaging wakes by pumping ballast into watercraft.

Ahh, they are playing that whole... "we want to hear your concerns"...notification game with you folks down there, hu?

I know nothing of the politics of THAT lake community, but I know the pattern that follows little "postcards" like that.

What it means is probably this; They are going to juggle some past rulings that are cramping someones style now, and alot of people are not gonna like it in the end....but they are going forward regardless, and in order to cover their asses in future debates they want to be able to say, "look, we vehemently seeked out and considered all aspects of the public opinion as it was presented to us, and ruled in the best interest and fairness of the majority".

I went on the site, says 30 to 50 million visitors a year to Table Rock Lake.

Seems high to me what do you all think?

I think they mean to the general area (Branson,Silver Dollar city, Taneycomo, etc) but not on Table Rock Lake itself.

Although there are some weekends in the Summer where it seems like all 50 million are speeding past our dock in wake boats?

Figuring there are approximately 8 months (March-October) of active tourist season, that is around 240 days.

That means that if each person only visited for one day each, then on any given day, there are at least 208,000 people at the Lake?

No way!

And yeah, those numbers of visitors seemed ridiculous. Like someone was trying to justify their job or their budget

Did anyone go to the meeting? I couldn't get down to the Knob on a thursday but am interested to here what was said in the meeting.
