It amazes me why, in this digital age, where taking a picture is so easy and automatic, and instantaneously posting the picture (s) to social media outlets, that there are so few images and/or pictures of us, on this forum, on our fishing forays?

Have we come to the point where only BIG fish pictures will suffice? Thereby cementing our "reputations" as accomplished anglers?

I mean, who doesn't take pictures in this day and age?

Or, is the opposite true? Where, if we took pictures of our trips (warts and all), we would look pedestrian to the rest of the world, thereby diminishing our so-called "expert" status as smallmouth fishermen?

I like stories. Picture books are even better.

Who needs another picture of a 12" fish? Nice smallie in your first...Some fatty kryptonite in your second.

There's an element of truth in most statements, no matter how small. But...

Not sure who it kicks in the gut?!

I agree with Gavin, who wants to see the picture of another 12" fish?...Tell a good trip report or story describing how many fish you caught along with the scenery pics and add one or two pictures of the nicer fish pics. Who wants to read a story that ends "So in total we ended up with 15 fish, including a nice fat 18" smallmouth, BTW, I'm including the picture of a 9" smallie that went for my rooster tail"

I think you just made JoeD's point.

If the 12" fish was the first fish caught by a young new comer to the sport, if it was caught in a tiny head water stream miles above permanent flow or if it was taken from a stream so degraded fish life was thought to not exist I would very much like to see a picture of it. A lot of things can make a fish special.

I don't think anyone is taking anything away from a 12'' fish or the cool story of how, who, and where it was caught. But if every time someone caught a 12'' fish and posted a picture of it, all we would have to look at would be 12'' fish. It's not common to catch a 5-8 lber every weekend like it is a 12'' in most places in the Ozarks, so when a big one is landed it's special and worthy of posting a picture. 12'' fish are just to common to be posting pics of every time one is caught.
