Feathers and Fins Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Were all going to be fat when milk hits $8 a gallon......LOL. This post is very interesting, I'm liking all the comments. Let me say, one CAN eat healthy within a reasonable budget but one has to be willing to put some effort into it. Problem is, many of the American people are lazy; just stating facts. How many of us actually take the time to comp shop, use coupons, learn to cook instead of eating fast food and microwave crap dinners.??? 95% of meat I eat is wild game and most the fruits and veggies are farmers market or my garden. Most the time we cook our meals Breakfast and Dinner, Lunch is Subway or Mom and Pop places get my money. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

merc1997 Bo Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 fuel costs are shrinking everyones' pocket books. living in an area that is fueled by tourists, and that would include those that fish, it certainly affects a lot of businesses. wehn we do not fish as often, we are not buying gas, fishing baits, using up usable miles on the vehicles(which at some point means repair expendatures, tires, oil changes, ect.). i would guess that all working people would like their wages to go up in accordingly to fuel, insurance, taxes, ect. of course with higher wages, especially those attached to manufactured products, the cost of those goes up. kind of a vicious cycle. bo
David Unnerstall Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 For me it is an issue of time related to dealing with this economy. I would have to say I have less time for fishing. My time hunting has really been affected. I can heat my house with wood from around the woods close by so that takes a lot of time with chain saw, maul and wedges (I am morally opposed to log splitters). Both my car and truck are approaching 200K so there is more time on repairs, there (but the savings on insurance and personal property tax are significant). I do garden but need to find ways to increase what I harvest. I manage to fix just about anything in the house but it can get real ugly sometimes. But all of this and cancelling satellite TV is starting to have an effect on finances.
