jdmidwest Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Think of all the rights we gave up after 9/11 due to criminals and mentally disturbed people, unfortunately it happens in lots of different ways in an effort to protect our citizens. My kids have to take off their shoes to get on an airplane, seems crazy, but just something we have to do thanks to criminals. So it only seems to reason that we need to offer some security in our schools to protect our kids. Greasy B Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 The only thing that IMO has changed is the Media Coverage thats spreads fear to every Sheep in the flock. Im not saying the media is a big evil but im saying why does a mentally disturbed person who committed a horrible crime in Conn need to affect the entire Nation? Use to be you might here about it on the evening news the night it happened and maybe a follow up late but never weeks on end. People also knew it was Isolated and really still is, not like people everyplace are running around shooting large numbers of people. I couldn't agree more, except I think most of the change lies with the viewing public. Has the average American become so lame that they have nothing better to do than watch images on a screen and take it for reality? I believe a lot of folks are unable to form their own opinions because they've forgotten how to reason. Lacking in any real life experience it’s easier to just adopt the opinions of others. Does the average American realize just how many people live in the United States? Do they know the likelihood of being the victim of a violent crime? I'm saddened when I drive through my neighborhood in the evening and see the flickering of televisions in virtually every window. I want to take the collective public by their ears and scream at them to turn the television off and get a life of their own! His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. Justin Spencer Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Media is for sure to blame for a lot of the problems, lots of Americans would never know the economy was down if we weren't reminded of it 10 times a day. My business thankfully is thriving through this crisis, but thanks to the media I am watching my pennies more than I would be if I didn't know things were supposedly so bad. If you think the changes in security after 9/11 were warrented then you should also believe in gun control. After all there are alot more mass shootings than people flying planes into buildings. I personally thought the patriot act went too far in many ways, but it probably made us safer as a nation, although we gave up some of our constitutional rights to privacy with passage of the act. Wayne SW/MO Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Justin the Patriot act hasn't been tested in the Supreme Court because it would hold up. The wire tapping section involves foreign nationals. The reason for Guantanamo is to keep our enemies from accessing the constitution. They still have to get a judge to approve searches, albeit they can do it the day after now if they show justification. I do agree with you about the media. They bring up Columbine and VA Tech every year on their anniversary, reminding all the nuts that they won;t be forgotten if they mimic. Many economist point out that economic depressions have recovered quicker when the government didn't intervene. I think careful and well thought out intervention can be positive, but automatic intervention to produce a false positive can do more harm than good. Jack Jones Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 3 different accidental shootings, 3 different gunshows, 5 people shot. And then this.... http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local/police-henry-county-teen-accidentally-shot-and-kil/nT3CG/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Good things we have all these "responsible" gun owners exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. I feel safer already. Funny, I don't remember anyone ever being shot at a Fishing Expo. fishinwrench Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 The shotgun's owner,36-year-old Gary Lynn Wilson, brought the weapon to the show to find a private buyer,Long said. Sheriff Donnie Harrison said that it was too early to know whether Wilson might be charged but that it appeared to be an accident. This is bullspit! Maybe if some of these "accidents" were charged as unlawful use of a firearm people would take a second to BE SURE that a gun isn't loaded, or that all guns are treated like they are at all times like you're supposed to. None of the CCW incidents (accidental discharge) go on record because they are all considered accidents. That is wrong. To shoot someone whether intentional or not should be a crime and the details sorted out in court, regardless of the circumstances. Drunk driving fatalities and drug addiction/overdose are "accidents" too, if you choose to look at it THAT way.

Chief Grey Bear Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 This is bullspit! In more ways that one. All accidents are not preventable. Every one of these were preventable thus not an accident. And as a side note. You ever take a look at the women in the adversiment above? I sure would like to see the rest of the picture of that blond in the red top, third from the left.
