cullinby9 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 But why do people keep pushing MDC to change the regulations? It all boils down to the same thing, it's a tough pill to swallow. You don't want any other fishing pressure, no meat eaters, no meth heads, no giggers, no party floaters. if only we all could each have our own private creek to fish. Let's make enough regulation changes that force everyone else off the creeks. I can tell you this with confidence the mdc could change the regs all they want to it aint gonna stop Bubba from walkin down the back forty and getting dinner. So why even worry about it I don't. Litterbugs and people giggin bass are the only problems I have with "those people".
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I forgot one other fish that might indicate fish move up the creeks. I caught a rainbow last March a little above the 160 bridge. He definitely got there on his own. That's the only bow I've caught that was where he wasn't suppose to be, unless you count below Powersite, but they're always there. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Lvn2Fish Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Upper bull is good, swan creek, beaver creek. Pomme de terre river, the finley, the upper james, Flat creek, long creek, Kings river. ........ If there is enough water in it to hold a fish, there is good fishing. We might as well take this forum down, since it is broken down by stream or river. This is unreal how some of you people think. Chances are when you think your river has crappy fishing, you are just bad at catching fish.
SmallyWally Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 To me it is very simple. We live in a basically free country and anyone can fish on just about any form of water as long as they purchase a license ($$$$$$$-MONEY MOTIVATED). I understand the points of view on this forum and we need to remember that this world is filled with all types of people, the givers and the takers. Takers will always rise to the top because of what they cause either in our communities or on our waterways, drawing that attention from the rest of us who follow the laws and regulations. Just remember, we cannot control everything or anybody, to do what is right, and there will always be a few who WILL take advantage of any opportunity that crosses their path. We have been blessed to have the ability to fish and float and wade for those wonderful bronzebacks, tomorrow is to short to fight battles unless it is the 2nd Amendment. Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.-- Mark Twain

It's not that we are bad at catching fish, it's because we have seen the creeks and rivers at their best and want it to stay that way. Smalliebigs Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I can think of two. One is a Mississippi river tributary that I know smalliebigs, myself and Al fish. It used to have no one on it, until there was a post on a hunting forum showing a bunch of big smallies harvested out of it. Now it is hard to find parking on summer weekends...there used to be no one on it. See plenty of stringers now too. This is really small water and can't handle the pressure. The other one I don't even want to talk about, breaks my heart.... I think I know of both creeks you speak of and yes it is heartbreaking and Andy you are also correct the first creek you are talking about was destroyed by a kid who is more of a hunter than a fisherman. Like you said he posted directions and showed tons of pics and bam.....now that creek is screwed. For anyone to imply that i feel the fishing sucks and that is a direct result of me not beeing able to catch them there is garbage......all of these marginal streams are extremely easy to catch fish out of......that's laughable. There are no secerets in Missouri and that is not what I was implying so go ahead and advertise.......I know what I have seen and what I have experienced over 25 years of wading and floating Missouri streams.....we all have opinions
Smalliebigs Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 So whats the point of having a smallmouth forum if we can't talk smallmouth fishing. Is it just to get on here and complain about the mdc? nope but, they leave themselves a ton of room for criticism. They do okay
Lvn2Fish Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Fishing report, I went to an un-named body of water, caught an un-disclosed amount of fish, on an un-named lure. Boy wish I could give more info, but if i did it would destroy the smallmouth population....

Say what you want, the minute the word gets out you will be following 10 canoes down the creek on a Saturday and getting their leftovers. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
