Feathers and Fins Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Do you not find that since fluoro sinks it effects the action of your top water lures? I love Seagar line both invizx and abrazx, but use McCoy for top water and spinning gear. I do like the extra clear lines. For a cheaper line, I like Stren original clear. Actually it doesnt IMO, I dont let baits sit at all I keep them in motion so its a non-factor. If i let them pause and sit then it might be an issue but none that i have found yet https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
ozarkgunner Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Yo Zuri hybrid. 10lb clear or green. Angler At Law
moguy1973 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Yo Zuri hybrid. 10lb clear or green. +1 or sometimes 8 or 12lb too. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
dtrs5kprs Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 cmpared to $8 for Big Game. Can you really justify the difference? You don't fish for money. Just asking how you justify it. Like F&F I use mostly Seaguar, lately mostly Invizx. BIg Game for the fast stuff. And like F&F I do not fish for $. Buying it at Tackle Warehouse during the 20% off sales helps, and gets you a bunch of free t-shirts and 5$ hoodies. I use it because I don't fish for $, have less time to fish than some of those folks, and therefore place tremendous value on each bite and fish caught. Made the fluoro jump in about 2001 and gradually began using it for more and more applications. Have definitely caught more and bigger fish since the switch. What would probably blow some folks away is watching me spool Invizx on my kids' reels (8 and 10yo). Figure they deserve every advantage and opportunity, and know they catch more fish because of that line. When they stick a nice brownie on vacation and go "all smiles" it is worth every penny. As for line color...well fluoro had better be clear at the price. Mostly green for everything else.
Members Nolan_Whaley Posted February 26, 2013 Members Posted February 26, 2013 I like flouro for jig/texas rig type applications. Hate the price of it. Invisx is nice, but i've used BPS and Vanish due to cost. I know Vanish has a bad rep, but it's been ok for me. Both of those tho, get line memory pretty fast. You need to change line probably once a month, and that's pretty steep for a casual angler. Knots are very important on flouro line.... I've used Silver Thread for years, and it's good tough line. Doesn't have the sensitivity of flouro, but is nice price. I've tried green, and i know guys love it, but I have a hard time seeing it unless the light is just right. I prefer clear line for this reason. The gold color of vanish is ok.
Members tbooks Posted February 26, 2013 Members Posted February 26, 2013 I found cheapest price for seagar in-vis at united outdoors. Check them out.

Please don't take this as an insult but I just don't see the logic in spending less for line. Again this is not a bash. I see comments like this all the time when "Line" opinion type posts come up. We spend $100's of dollars on gas running the boat, another couple hundred pulling it, buy $15 Lucky Craft baits, have 30K+ boats, thousands of dollars worth of rods and reels and another couple hundred to couple thousand in electronics and yet we don't want to pony up an extra 10-20 bucks on a spool of maybe the most important aspect of catching fish???? The line? Like Dave said he puts the good stuff on his kids rigs because he doesn't want them to be at a disadvantage. I know I would be heartbroken if I had a 8lb'er or nice fish lost because I used cheap line.....would you pay $20 to have another chance at landing the fish of a lifetime or another $40 to have your kids, grand kids, nephew, father, brother, friends, loved ones create a lasting memory for life of a great fish or day of fishing? I know I may be taking this to maybe the extreme but to me it doesn't make sense to skimp on line. You can skimp on soft plastics, hard baits (to an extent) and rods and reels to a degree...but the business end like line and hooks I don't think you can cut corners. I don't know peoples budget or financial situations and I don't aim to offend anyone, these are just my opinions of course.

I catch alot of flack for it, but i have caught thousands of fish on topwater using floro just not many people do it!! good to see i'm not the only one doing it
wdberkley Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Sunline Super FC Sniper Fluorocarbon (7lb-16lb depending on the application) and Sunline Super Natural Monofilament 10lb for Topwaters. IMO its the best line on the market. While I'm only lucky enough to fish Table Rock once a year, I do fish some Wisconsin lakes that have similar charactoristics - Chunk Rock, Bluffs, Pea Gravel - and it holds up very well. Also fish a lot of docks in the summer months and it's held up just fine. It's pricey, but you can and will find it on sale once or twice a year. TW did a buy one get one this winter, pretty tough to beat.
