Smalliebigs
After almost 2 1/2 years of ho humming around and trying jew down guys on their used rigs, I have found the jet for me. I am going to have a custom build by a company out of PA. I am going with their Outboard Jet model.17 foot with a 90/65 Mercury Optimax, one of the few new ones left in the united states, it comes with their custom trailer and I am ugrading to the 1/2" UHMW bottom to save me from the Ozarks rocks. I know a lot of people on here will think oh dung another dude with a jet on our rivers and I really don't care.....at least I won't be gigging bass like a ton of hoosiers do on our rivers and I will mostly be using it in the winter and fall....... as well as Taney. http://www.rockproofboats.com/objet.html#

I guess everybody has their faults. Some gig fish they shouldn't. Some keep fish that others don't want anybody to keep and eat. Some take jet boats up small areas on streams where boats become dangerous for others and wash out banks. We all have our faults I guess, lol. http://www.rockproofboats.com/objet.html#

Al Agnew
Those boats are big on eastern rivers, but that's because on eastern rivers about the only thing you'll hit is rock, hence the UMHW. It adds a considerable amount of weight, but is necessary for boats that are likely to hit solid rock ledges or big boulders. I think you'll like it just fine. Only reason I wouldn't want it is because of the weight. It might make the boat draft deeper when not under power, and it might make it a lot harder to do what I did a few weeks ago...had to get out of the boat and drag it up a riffle because a tree was down and there was only one way around it, and that was through the ends of the tree branches. No way I could run through them under power without hurting myself, but I was able to drag the boat over about four inches of water crisscrossed with thin branches. It might have been nice to have the UMHW when I hit the rock in the riffle below Sand Ford, but I hit it as hard as I could have possibly hit it, going full speed, and the rock stopped the boat dead. Put a big dent in the bottom of my Blazer, but didn't knock a hole in it. I can't imagine hitting anything any harder than that, so unless I hit another rock in the same exact spot on the bottom of the boat, I figure my boat can take anything the Ozarks can dish out. Smalliebigs
Well it's either this boat which is my dream jet or Joe Troutt has an Express 16/52 that is .08 gauge with a Mercury 60/40 and it is half the price.....it's the first time express has offered an.08 hull......my wife wants me to get Joe's boat here is the hull I was going to buy from Joehttp://trouttandsons.com/AquaBoss2/aq-show.php?listid=131378143299708&page=11&p=5&s=make ASC with this motorhttp://www.yamahaoutboards.com/outboards/Jet-Drive/comparisons....the price is right but........ I'm worried about whether or not two people could get upstream with all their gear???? this is boat my wife is insisting me get Oh Al.....don't feel bad the rock you hit along with all of the others there have really done a number sooo many jets in that first 150 yards below Sand Ford....very tough spot there.....when you go thru that spot with Mitch Fields it's white knuckler
