joeD Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 With so many uncertainties in life, it is a comfort to the soul that one can rely on something. Year in, year out. That gives pleasure to so many. I am talking about Girl Scout Cookies. So, right now, I am all about the Lemonades. Shortbread cookie with a sweet, slightly tart, lemony coating on half the cookie. Two words: Yum-mee.
fishinwrench Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Oh, you still have some? Mine are but a memory All three packages. I must have a mouse in here.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 8, 2013 Root Admin Posted March 8, 2013 I'll share this story... close to my heart. My dad was a hospital administrator in SE Kansas from the mid 60's to 1990. Kind of a thankless job now a days. He had an open door policy--anyone could come and talk to him for any reason. His office had windows so you could see if he was in. He had a closet in behind his desk where he kept a very good supply of Girl Scout cookies. I used to raid it all the time. Little did I know he used those cookies for diplomacy. When anyone had issues with each other or with him, he'd order a pitcher of cold milk and glasses from the kitchen. He'd bring in the parties involved (usually doctors that weren't getting along) and they'd hash out their differences over milk and cookies, Girl Scout cookies.
Justin Spencer Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Dollar general has some knock off Girl scout cookies that are every bit as good as the real thing, my daughter is a girl scout and we had fun doing blind taste tests on different varieties, very little difference and dollar general might have won more than lost. joeD Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Is nothing sacred? Someone decided it was a good idea to hone in on the Girl Scout cookie market. Grant you, I'm not surprised. Still. What's next? Professional door to door salesmen hawking GS cookies, having pushed aside neighborhood girls? Just kidding (I think). Fortunately, I picked up 3 more boxes today. Supporting the "troops."

Mitch f Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Joe, I'm at Walmart today and I spot the poor Girl Scouts standing under a tarp in the rain selling cookies. I feel a little sorry for them so I buy some cookies. You're right, the Lemonades are outstanding! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

I tried those vanilla/caramel/coconut ones (don't remember their name), and I've been thinking the same thing. Those things are addictive.
