Billfo Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Anyone fish for Catfish "intentionally" on Table Rock. I have an old neighbor that likes them, so I thought I would see if I could catch him one occasionally. Any tips ? I'd like to stay around the Big Indian area.I CAN throw out a line at night from the bank if that will work. Thanks for the tips... Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
bfishn Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I'd call the Rock good for flatheads and fair for channels. I mostly target cats there June-Sept in the west end, but I hammered them the one time I fished the big end, in the timber toward the back of Jaques Creek on a tree-to-tree trotline in October. For early spring, find runoff ditches and creeks that carry in warm muddy spring dowpours, and fish the inflows while they're running hard. I can't dance like I used to.
Bill Babler Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Right now with the angle of the sun, the coves on the west side and the south facing cuts and pockets are warming the best and staying warm the longest. Look for the pole timber and the shelf and chunk rock stuff. Long Creek to Beardsley Branch are full of dying shad and I'm sure there are some Kitty's working in those areas. Might be a good time in the upcoming weeks to give it a try. I know there is usually a group from Arkansas that come into this area in the next few weeks each year and put out YoYo's and do extremely well. Mostly in the steeper pole timber pockets on the above mentioned side of the lake. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 There is not a ton of it, but they will for sure get on rip rap also. The White side of the 13 bridge for example.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 My GS always caught some on the Jake side of Indian. He would get some decent flats on small perch,<2", and smaller ones on worms. I think they're there if you fish for them. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Billfo Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Lots of good pointers. Thanks, I will give it a try when we get to the lake again in a couple of weeks. This may work out well. I catch, he cleans, he cooks, we eat !!!! Everyones happy & he watchs my house when we are not there.. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
Billfo Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 The only Catfish I caught on Table Rock was completely by accident. He hit a plastic on the bottom of a 30 foot channel. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
Members rogerdodger Posted March 27, 2013 Members Posted March 27, 2013 They are in there. Here is an old pic of a 52 lb Flathead I caught one early spring on a 1 oz Double willow Spinnerbait.I feel this is the lake record for artificial baits unless someone proves me wrong.....any takers? They are the true apex predators of the lake.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Nice Cats guys. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)
