woodman Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I have been working with local organizations here in KC to set up auctions or raffles to give some of my fleet away to....Would love to get people interested in volunteering in the build process....Like to see this thing explode nation wide....Any insites on setting up ways to raffle these things off? SOF style.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mo_kayaks/ http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
ness Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Dang! I just cruised through your photo album and those boats are incredible. I don't have any ideas to help with the auctions, but I can't imagine you would have a hard time getting folks to help with the builds. I saw some Scouts in a few -- are you hooked up with them in any way? John
Jack Jones Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 There are many charities here in the Ozarks that aren't specifically geared towards the homeless that I'm sure would love to accept donations to raffle off. The Developmental Center of the Ozarks is one. Also the Sertoma Foundation. I would also check out a charity called HOPE. They provide financial assistance to needy parents of children born with severe defects. Given the pro-outdoors setting of the Ozarks, it shouldn't be hard to find one. Keep an eye out in the paper for benefits, take note, and then contact the charity later with your plans. That's my 2 cents. Gavin Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Thought you were providing the homeless with transport to Nawlins for a second. Should not be a hard sell but you need to find a charity that does what you want
bfishn Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Thought you were providing the homeless with transport to Nawlins for a second... Ha! Me too. That or he'd figured out how to make a kayak from an old refrigerator box... :-) Great sentiment, but a clearer title might be appropriate. I can almost hear someone mumbling; "I'm all for helping the homeless, but they can buy their own dxxx kayaks!" I can't dance like I used to.
jdmidwest Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I would think they need a home more than a kayak. Where will they store it? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Jack Jones Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Just what we need, clans of itinerant paddlers wandering the state......thanks woodman. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
grizwilson Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 We are having a raffle at Jackson Days in Springfield, April 19 & 20, for "Bills Place" that helps the homeless for two Cardnials tickets. We would be very excited to add something like this to another Raffle. http://www.thekitcheninc.org/bills_place.php g I have been working with local organizations here in KC to set up auctions or raffles to give some of my fleet away to....Would love to get people interested in volunteering in the build process....Like to see this thing explode nation wide....Any insites on setting up ways to raffle these things off? Jack Jones Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Griz, I'd like a little more info on that. Wanna post it? Or just pm me? "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
grizwilson Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Will post as I get more info. Thinking $2 a ticket 3 for 5, working on some Royals tickets also. Griz, I'd like a little more info on that.
