Guest Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Way to go, Bill. That's a bass for the ages! Its funny how slow things are, then all of the sudden a mammoth latches on. Hooking fish that size is hard enough, but landing them is an art itself. I think your scales are more accurate than any length/girth calculation out there. I still wonder how big that smallmouth was that my wife caught back in 2010?? She still thinks you can just go out and catch big smallmouth at will on Table Rock. I'm afraid your guiding skills ruined her! LOL I keep telling her that men who've fished their entire lives may never catch a smallmouth as big as hers. Thanks for taking us on the best guided trip we've ever experienced. You, sir are the most professional guide that I've ever hired.
johnboy2bfishin Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Nice fish Bill I fished from 8-12 with 3 drinks on c-rig doctor on secondary points in aunts creek seen gulls there as well but didn't make a move had to get home to some honey-do's Tried every transition i could find nothing the ones i caught were right on top of the points in 10'of water I guess better luck to me next time
Bill Babler Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Trophy Fisher, Your wife had one of the best days any client has ever had on Table Rock, either guided by myself or anyone. And that is a fact. I know of no one that has ever caught 3 Small Jaws in a day between 5.1, 5.5 and 6.1 Charlie Campbell weighed in 4 one day that weighed 21 pounds, Her best 5 weighed 23 pounds. She would have placed higher than the Great Charlie Campbell. I will never exceed that day the rest of my life. Very few if anyone can say they weighed in a 23 pound bag of Jaws, on Table Rock Lake. On the Gull deal. This is not a Striper lake. When these shad are dying as they are they completely fill the bass to maximum. I have never caught Largemouth bass near dying shad and diving gulls, it just does not happen. As is the trout, when a few are coming thru the dam the fishing for big trout is great. When rafts of millions come thru, the fishing is terrible. That is what is happening in the dam area of Table Rock and has been going on for at leasts a month. I would estimate at least a thousand gulls between the dam and Long Creek. On the fish weight, I checked the old Rapala. I weighed a unopened gallon of milk on my wifes digital baking scale. it is balls on. It weighed 7.13 oz. I took it down and weighed it on the Rapala, and it weighed 7.10 oz. I'm sure the old gal was flouncing as I weighed her and it is very hard to do as I just did not want to hurt her in the least as she was just so full. I'm guessing I got it pretty close at around 9 pounds. I know this, That great fish that Don had the other day would not have wanted anything to do with this one. She was just way bigger, Not a Webb fish for sure, but one of those big ole biggins. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Bill, I still think you deserve credit, because you put us in the position to succeed. Granted, things might have been lined up exactly right (water level, time of year, etc) but you still have to be around the bigguns to catch them. I didn't think it would turn out as good either given the conditions. I remember only sleeping 2hours that night after watching the tornado rip MO to pieces. I was shaking like a little girl, while my wife snores through it all. LOL That morning, I couldn't have been any grumpier and she was chipper as a bird. I did manage a trifecta of smallmouth, K, and flathead. Something Ive never done either. She still tells the story like it was yesterday. Believe me, she has said many a kind word about your abilities as a guide. Tying on baits, casting out, handing the rod back, giving detailed directions on what and when to do it. You basically called the shots that day, as if you were Babe Ruth at the plate. So, I would say your pretty good ole boy!
vacation Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Great fish, what lure did you get her on and depth please? Outstanding fish for sure
Codywskeeter1521 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Wasn't a monster but I owe this fish to all you guys and bill. We just installed a hds 10 with structure and down scan we spent the first half of our morning playing with that and just scanning then we decided it was time to wet a line. Ran all the way from mill Creek to aunts Creek almost to Piney with just a couple shorts. Decided to head up by cow Creek found so fish suspened. Had 7 keepers with this one. congrats on that beautiful fish and thank you guys.

Ranger Z22 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Bill, congrats on the fish...sure looks bigger than the one I caught the other week. I have ran our areas we fished together, and have caught them consistently, but no numbers. I have also stayed close to the house and caught a few a jig. Also now that you mentioned the gulls, when I see gulls=no fish. We did not have gulls when we fished together, at the areas we caught them. Don H z22
Champ188 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Congrats Bill on a very fine fish. And a downright pretty one to boot. I have never cared for fishing around shad so thick you could walk on them. I just don't have a lure in my boat that compares to the real thing.
*T* Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 That is one beautiful, giant bass, Bill. Thanks for the pic. I want one! "Water is the driving force of all Nature." -Leonardo da Vinci
