NoLuck Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Well I just looked at a report for Bennett spring online. It is dated 4/11. How or why do they put info for Tuesdays conditions?? Maybe trying to keep from people being steered away?? Nahh. That couldn't be. I understand that it is a service but come on. Quit trying to BS people. That is just dishonest. There are a ton of people that use that report as their only source of info for fishing conditions. Without knowledge of other rescources. Sorry, just had to rant.
fishinwrench Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 There IS a USGS guage online. Check the guage and Just keep some John Deere's, cracklebacks, and globalls in your box and you'll have the "Weaver's report" covered year-round I think.
laker67 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Aint it the truth? And if you listen to JR every opener, he will tell you that they just released 200 lunkers, and 50 of them are over 8lbs. It is always , "come on down", the fishing is great and the water is always clear and at wadable levels. Daily stockers are released at a rate of 1.5 fish per estimated fisherman for the following day. Realisticly they only estimate about 39 fishermen to show up on any week day.
brittsnbirds Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 NoLuck, chill dude. Your in the mid-west again. We don't act like those people out west!! You've been underground too long, acting like a caveman. Just kidding. I'm actually with you. If your talking about a report that I "use to use faithfully" your right. When the previous owner posted the report I felt like it was for all types of fishing. But now its mainly for spin and gut fishermen/women. I guess those of us that fly fish also tie our own fly's so there isn't any $$ in it for them. FYI, I put your package in the UPS today.
laker67 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Last summer I would fish bssp occasionally. I would normally fish for about 2 hrs and realize that I had been there about 1.5 hrs too long. Only then did I remember why I had not fished it on a regular basis as in years past, before 2004. I look for bssp to make some changes to spark their revenue. Maybe they will charge 5 bucks for a daily tag, and charge a daily parking fee. Make the two bridges crossing the creek into toll bridges, and close them to all foot traffic. Maybe then they could afford to release 2 fish per fisherman, and buy food for the ones with stunted grow. It is obvious that their growth is stunted by the fish you catch.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 12, 2013 Root Admin Posted April 12, 2013 After writing fishing reports for one body of water for 15 years, I understand how difficult it is to come up with a new way to report the same thing, week after week. If conditions don't change, fish are going to bite basically the same thing day after day. The colors may vary but that can happen on an hourly basis- they'll hit pink for a while, then white, then orange. Flies, lures, bait - it doesn't matter. Change size and color and you'll probably find something that'll work. As far as the post date -- might have been an error.
fishinwrench Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Maybe it's just me getting old, cranky and resistant to change, but BS has been transformed into nothing but a cheesy roadside amusement park IMO. I miss what it used to be. My only hope (personally) is that the bigtime updated hatchery will eventually lead to improved management of the trout holding portion of the Niangua.

Greasy B Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 BS has been transformed into nothing but a cheesy roadside amusement park IMO. I miss what it used to be. I guess I missed what it used to be. I do know that spring creeks such as BS branch are extremely rare and this one is nothing compared to what it could be. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
fishinwrench Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Yeah the fact that the "agency's" condone this conversion so far away from its natural state with all the concrete casting decks, stairs, and spillways is sickening to me. It appears that they won't be content until the whole place resembles Big Surf Waterpark (with fish in it). Maybe they should just forget about the fishing aspect and add log slides and tube rides.
