dtrs5kprs Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Please all, go to Pete Wenners Table Rock Lake video fishing report for April 11th. It is a piece on not only the fluke but the grub. We are doing the same thing, Pete is fishing a little shallower than I am, but it is so close it is unreal. He is also keeping his boat in the 25 to 30 range, I'm a bit deeper, but we are both fishing the same patterns on the same stuff to the same fish. Only in different areas of the lake. He and I have never discussed this. It is very well done and gets you exactly where I have been trying to lead. 99% of us are fishing the fluke on spinning. With the sampo style swivel, you should take out the twist. Other things to do is never under any circumstance when fishing a spinning reel, close the reel with the reel handle. Always, always close the bale with your hand. You will virtually take all the twists out of your line with that one manuver. Good Luck Pete does a very nice job. His info has put me on a bunch of fish. Saw him today just down from where I caught my stick fish. As Bill says, Pete is fishing a fair bit shallower. Caught fish on grub, tubes, and stick on that stretch. Most coming from 8-15' or so
buckcreekmike Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I always close with my hand, my main reason is because I figured it would extend the life of the reel. I use top waters (skitter pops mainly) with spinning and light line so that I can cast them real far but the line twist just sucks.
johnboy2bfishin Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I appreciate the advice Bill. I have kept up with Pete's site and he is very informative as well. Now that you have explained how you rig your fluke on spinning gear its like class is in session. Trust me I will incorporate thus bit if info into how i fish. Info like this is invaluable. Thank Bill again
dtrs5kprs Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 It is like the old tx rigged trick worm from the 90's. Just with a fluke.
fishingaddiction Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Bill, Good point about bank fishing! Sometimes we just have to hear it stated the way you put it, especially with the water clarity/temps the way they are. Thanks for the all the great reports, and I didn't notice the last photo was a MM. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
