roy_eros Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 They may find some good ones bedding but I think it would be tough to find 5 good ones each day on a bed. Last year the whole lake had a good color to it with 2-4 foot visibility. That brought a ton of fish up to the bank to feed and many of the fish were already postspawn in some parts of the lake. That colored water is very important for getting on a good reaction bait bite. Therefore I believe the few areas that do have some color right now which is the extreme back of some of the rivers and creeks will get pounded. There are some good chances for rain this week so that may play a very big part in the fishing this week. Like Bill said the CPA tournament has some very good sticks and for them to struggle the way they did I would expect the elites to average similar weights. Of course there will be a few bags in the 18-22 pound range, too many big fish for somebody not to have a good day sometime.
mixermarkb Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I disagree. The CPA deal was a surprise to me, because those were the guys that kicked my butt all year long in the winter bass-o-thon. I had a great day. At least 15-16 pounds. I would have sworn it would take 20+ to win the CPA. I think it will take close to 20 a day to win this deal. These guys are really that good, and they fish the conditions. They don't have hours on the lake and lots of spots they have caught fish this time of year in their heads to confuse them. Some of them will find them, and catch some big bags. The fish are there, they haven't gone anywhere, and at least a bunch of these guys are really good. There will be more skunked than last year, but some guys will catch them really well.
Hunter53 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Thanks guys. You have given me some ideas on what I think I will start off looking for.
Ham Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Our best five yesterday would have been between 17-18 lbs and NONE of the fish we would have weighed would have been a largemouth. I would expect lots of > 15 lbs bags. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members abbfish Posted April 16, 2013 Members Posted April 16, 2013 I'm a marshal for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I can't wait! I'm glad it's going to be different than last year. I think these guys will find them and like Ham said "lot of > 15 lbs bags".
Sprint21fter Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Christie is fishing the Elites so he should be rockin and rolling at Bull Shoals. My dad will be running as a camera boat all four days and hopefully I can slip in with them and catch a ride Saturday and Sunday. There will probably more techniques in this tournament used than last year. The weights will probably be more consistant. The top 5 will have some big bags more than once. Can't wait.
Members brian c Posted April 17, 2013 Members Posted April 17, 2013 http://www.bassfan.com/army_article.asp?ID=205#.UWy-Ihzdnx4 bassfan article from brent chapman and amart... several posts on facebook from some of the bigger sticks that are having a tuff time in practice. Im sure 15 to 20 will find something consistent but i bet youll see some with a good sack on one day and struggle on another. Supposed to be storms thurs then major temp drop friday with little to no wind on sat and sunday.
roy_eros Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 I saw a ton of 3-4 pound fish moved up into the backs of pockets yesterday evening. They were pretty finicky, but i'm sure a few of these guys have a trick or two for that. Thursday is going to be interesting, it could be a home run or it could be very lousy...
Ham Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The weather is going to mix things up a BUNCH, but they have to be sand bagging if they say they aren't catching them right now. It's stupid good. I could seriously weigh a 15 lb bag of smallies every day, but the weather change may reduce that to ZERO. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Sprint21fter Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The Elites always say they are stuggling, but they are on fish it just isn't a whack fest. The Ozark Lakes makes you work for them and if you put in your work you will find gold at the end of the rainbow.
