What's The Secret?!

Recommended Posts

I just wondered if it was like Fellows. To the best of my knowledge Fellows has one security guard on duty, and on land to patrol all the accesses. I don't believe there is a water patrol and I've been told, not by anyone inside, that they have no power to ticket and can only call for law enforcement.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

^ I was wondering the same thing. My dad is a game warden on Fort Leonard Wood and I was telling him about some of the BS that happens at Lake Springfield about people keeping protected length FEMALE WITH EGGS bass from under 60 bridge and he was shaking his head. I was wondering if they have any type of agent of game warden out there. It's a shame if they don't.

The game wardens do make an appearance quite a bit, usually during popular fishing times like weekends and holidays. As for people keeping fish below 60 bridge, it really depends on the game warden to decide if its legal or not. The wildlife code is subject to their interpretation and will be enforced on their judgement. Depending on the game warden, you may or may not agree with what they say. The 2 men that show up are nothing but fair and courteous, the female is... shall we say less so?

I too have seen stringers full of slot limit bass, It is sad. Springfield lake could be such a better fishery. It saddens me to fish by the railroad track and see all the trash in the water as well. just takes a few to ruin it for others.

Amen,

But I was thinking about this the other day. Does the Parks board/MDC have a designated clean up day? It'd be pretty cool if they had a day like that (kind of like the street clean days for the adopt-a-street). We had a stream team in high school and it was always a blast cleaning up the rivers.

I would help out too. Maybe we should put a day together and do it ourselves? Let me know, I'm down and I am pretty sure that I can get some friends to come and help too.

I'd go. Most weekday evenings are open.

I catch and release ALL fish. Maybe some day we will get to meet again. Perhaps the big ol hog might end up on the line of some little boy or girl. That to me is worth more than a fish fry. A quick picture and a thank you to the fish followed by a gentle release. PEOPLE THE THROW FISH INTO THE WATER HACK ME OFF.
