Picked my first real big ripe tomato today. Been picking about a quart of grape and little sweeties each day. Cherry tomatoes are just starting to ripen, wild plant that grew out of the composter again this year.

Okra is putting on. Sweet corn needs picked this afternoon, squirrels have let me have it this year, they did not bother it. Cucumbers are producing about a peck ever week, just take most of them over to the neighbor so he can make pickles. Few yellow squash and zucs.

We did get about a tenth of soaking rain last evening and 2 inches on Tues. Garden perked back up after that.

7 hives of bees and none on the garden. Lots of blooms again and nothing setting fruit. I should have 3 times the amount of cucumbers. Pumpkins have been blooming a month and have not set a one.

I've got squirrel problems this year, never had much of a problem with them in the past, but this year they have been going after the tomatoes. Live trapped 3 of them and relocated them, but still a couple more left that are tomato eaters. can't shoot them, unfortunately, as I live in a no-firearms-discharge city.

Nice looking haul there, BilletHead! The peppers look good.

I try to spray at the first sight of problems and stay on it. That still didn't help my beans though. I may have a soil-borne problem.

First nice-sized mater yesterday too, a Brandywine. Red Cheese pepper is the first of any size. Bananas and others are taking their sweet time. Pulled all the carrots this morning.

I was ready to pull out my pole beans a couple weeks ago because they were looking really sickly and diseased. At the very top though, there was some green and there were a lot of blossoms, so I figured I had nothing to lose by seeing what happened. I also gave everything a good feeding. Well, I'm glad I did because the have somehow made a comeback and are covered with green, and beans. Picked about 1-1/2 pounds tonight, and a bunch of chiles and banana peppers. Maters are making a comeback, with tons of blossoms and leetle ones. The Sun Gold cherries have turned back on too -- brought in about 25 of them. Temp outside is 69 degrees!

Started some lettuce and cabbage under lights, and planted a bunch of beets, carrots, collards, bush beans and peas for the fall garden.
