Gavin Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 The 1/8oz Standup Arkie head..used to be a staple...Bite Me Jigs...makes a better one...Great hook...better guard.
bluebasser86 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I run it on Invizx, lots of folks (including Ned and Stacey King) run it on braid with an FC leader. Tried that and hated it, but it is likely a personal preference. Don't like having to re-do a leader out there in the wind when fishing alone. Mono will work, but brings along all the mono vs. FC issues. Baits were not mine, mine are super glued on the head . Have you ever fished it on Nanofil? That's what I fish my Ned's on, it casts a mile and is really sensitive. I run a short 2 or 3 foot fluoro leader and I'm 100% positive I catch more fish with it than I do trying to run straight fluoro because of the sensitivity of it. When I'm fishing it at least the fish often bite very lightly, I'm assuming because the fish don't see it as something that can get away quickly so no reason to try to kill it. I also superglue my baits on, otherwise they slide down the hook every casts after a couple fish and it drives me crazy!
Guest Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Do you think pjs would customize a jighead for the Ned rig? They're locally made. http://www.ejigs.com/Files/Product/Bass_1071/Weedless_Grub__Worm_Heads_(5-pack)_4634.asp
Guest Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 What is your best rod/reel setup for the Ned rig? I'm going to cabelas to buy a new setup for it. I'm using 10# braid 10# floro leaders
Pepe Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I bought the Do-It Mold and will be pouring some heads this week. I can make a few for y'all if you want. I will be in Shell Knob Thu-Sun so you could get them then.
Guest Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 What's the cost to have a blank do-it mold drilled out to custom specifications?
Members smallmouths fight Posted June 4, 2013 Members Posted June 4, 2013 Hey What do most people prefer mushroom head or the round head in using the ned rig and why . Thanks

I have not tried the nanofil, have never liked the berkley super lines. Fluoro is the go to for me. Had 7 keepers today with the 8 yo, 4 on the Ned, including his first smallmouth over 18". Fish was on a bed, bloody tail and all. Crazy.
