edwin Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I recently sold my Bass Cat, have a bunch of tackle that's going to be taking up space. Anyone know of a kids fishing group that could use some tackle? Let me know... tnx edwin "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
duckydoty Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Awesome idea. Maybe a local Boy Scout Troop? A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
blue79 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I used to fish James A Reed lakes in Kansas City and each lake and little boats you could rent for $5 a day and you put your own trolling motor on it and go fish.Everytime we would go we would go get all the lures out of the trees and brush piles.Well the last time i went there the conservation was going out and getting the lures and the office had a big display of lures that were going to kids or a charity or something. Its been a long time since ive been there but you might give them a call and ask. They might know of a place in your area.
motoman Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I actually donated about 10+ pounds of old soft plastics to Brad VanRiette (bevanriette@gmail.com) Kansas BASS Nation Youth Director; last month.(and I got a shoutout in their newsletter too!:-) - I posted a request for someplace to send some extra baits, preferably a youth group......On another message board. And several people gave me Brads info. - They actually just had a youth tourney and they use them to make sure every kid goes home with something. - Just went through some more tackle; and I'll probably send more soon. I simply couldnt find anyplace local to donate them. I looked for info on Mike Webbs K.A.S.T., and for some reason, kept hitting dead ends.:-(
Jerry Rapp Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 does your local high school have a bass fishing team? Might be a good option to donate to them. I gave a bunch of stuff to the Christian County Youth Club a few years also.
edwin Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for the info, folks. Here in STL we don't have any bass fishing teams for the school kids. I'll check with Motoman's suggestion in Kansas. "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
Jerry Rapp Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Edwin, one of my fishing buddies is involved with a High School Team in Belleville (manages a tackle shop also). I can give his contact info if you want. PM me if so.
gramps50 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 One of the high schools around Fenton has a fishing club I believe, I have seen them at a local lake. Another idea would be donate it to one of the groups that supports our troops. I know one such group locally, Midwest Marine Foundation has a nice little lake on their property where the guys go fishing while there. I can check and see if they take donations of fishing items.
Champ188 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Edwin, Mike Webb runs an organization called KAST (Kids Are Special Too). Website is webbsguideservice.com.
