I went to State Park one day took boat off trailer tied to the dock parked truck went down to boat. Got lifejacket on and motor would not start tried n tried no going. so I put boat back on trailer with trolling motor pulled out, pulled hoods and di all checking I could do. Still nothing. Strapped boat down and drove back to Ozark, pulled into buddies shop with a six pack and was good and mad. Told him what I had tried he went over to boat looked at shifter and plugged my kill switch in and started motor. I was really mad at that point but we drank the six pack and to this day laught about that trip. So stupid is not a lonely place lots of visitors. including me

My dad one time was standing in waist deep water working on the battery. Told me to shut up, he knew what he was doing. He did, threw that wrench a good twenty yards when the shock hit him. Still makes me smile thinking about it.

Jumper cables on boats are a no-no with me. I have pull started 150-200hp outboards with a mooring or anchor rope. :)

Nice fish btw!

I'd agree. Good way to toast a rectifier or even startafire.

Bet you never roped those V6s without making dam sure you had fuel/spark though! :-)

That's a manly task even with a well-tuned warm motor. Had to jerk my buddy's 25 a couple times yesterday, I didn't even like that. :-)

I can't dance like I used to.

I heard a saying one time... "There are two types of boat owners... those that have left the plug out and those that will."

Bought my boat used.. 20 years ago...took it for test drive etc. First trip out... it would not start...frustration anger, embarassment etc....Kill switch needed pushed in...

Still remember that day clearly.

You live and learn and laugh about it later on. The dumbest thing I ever did was try to launch the boat without removing the ty down straps.......at a club tournament in front of all the members.

I was at Swepco last year. Got there early fired up to fish. But the boat in trolled to the dock. Parked the truck. Came back to go fishing and the boat wouldnt start. Thought my bulb was bad so i loaded boat and ran to nearest WalMart which was Siloam Springs. Bought a new bulb and put in on in a few minutes no problem. Bulb wouldnt pump up. I went to look at the fuel tanks and I had selector on wrong tank. Switched sides and it fired right up. I felt dumb but i do have an extra bulb now:-)

Well in reading the things other people has done makes me chuckle about having done everything mentioned so far. I have had a boat for 40 years and in that time period I have had my moments of stupidity. :secret-laugh:

Old memory. First boat my dad ever owned. '78 ranger fish and ski. I was like 10. We toke it to Aunts Creek and put her on the water. Dad pulled out into the open water and opened her up. She stood up like a solider. Let of the gas and she layed down. Time and again, he would push the gas and again she would tip way way up in the air. Finally he had me climb, not crawl to the top of the boat and hold on to the trolling motor thinking that more weight in the front would plane her down. Did not happen but I got to ride back and forth by aunts creek probably 7 foot off the water. Trailered and back home, his friend starting explaining what the "trim" was. LOL.... :secret-laugh:
