mic Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 For some of my hard left and right friends that believe everything that read, I would like to set the record straight. Snowden turned over classified information because he is a dipshit not because he is a contractor. - Just because I'm a contractor doesn't mean I'm out to screw my country - In the long run I'm cheaper then a government position because: - the government doesn't have to pay for my retirement - they can get rid of me when my program is done - If the intel community converted all the contractors to government personnel, 98% would keep the same position because the pool of eligibal folks is so small In conclusion, this soapbox isn't about what the government should or should not oversee or if the government spends to much or not enough money, this is about questioning thousands of contractor's loyality to the government and more important to its citizens because one person decided break a contract and (in my opinion) betray his country. Thanks for letting me vent. MIC

Wayne SW/MO Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Just because I'm a contractor doesn't mean I'm out to screw my country Certainly true. I don't know that being a private contractor was the issue with Snowden for most, but what he was contracted to do. On the other hand his method of outing the information is indeed very close to treason, if not treason. He had other avenues. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

fishinwrench Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 "We are collecting profile records of everyone and we need it to be a secret". Why? Not why collect info, but WHY is it important for it to be a big secret ? Who didn't already assume that this was going on anyway? Treason by snowden? I don't see the harm in what he did.....just seems stupid and a waste of time. He should just waited until he retired....not that him disclosing it NOW is gonna change anything.
