Smalliebigs Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Let me change my post to Barry Soetoro instead of "H"IC" and Justin is the one who brought the relevance to the Zimmerman case in which Barry has race baited and how it pertained to this case I don't know??? but, I will not listen to some BS about how a guy in florida who was acquitted somehow pertains to this......I did not start it and stand by my acronym of Barry because that's how he acts and leads this nation.....IMO.......I don't care what any of you bleeding libs think or say ........RED X this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess you guys can't just post fishing reports????? you always have to bring your lib BS into it......and I'm not gonna sit by and not retort to your pathetic liberal stances on just about everything..........POST FISHING REPORTS ABOUT TRIPS TO OZARK STREAMS AND LAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you guys actually do that sort of thing....which I really doubt. I'm with HOGWALLY.....you guys don't see enough crap first hand out on the river to know......our rivers are over run with drunk and disorderly clowns who do not respect a darn thing....it's enough to make a guy sell his dream farm Please!!!!!....give me a break...I assume you were out protesting no justice ....no peace today Justin???...It's not a good thing that's for sure but, none of know exactly what happened.......the landowner could innocent just like Zimmerman.....I don't make assumptions about guilt on something I don'y know shiot about.....it sounds bad but, I wasn't there and did not witness what happened. I doubt our esteemed leader and HNIC won't be race baiting this story like the Zimmerman case......If I was a floater going thru Steeleville I could look like this guy....like our prez says
Guest Brian B. Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Al, I couldn't care less about what you think of what I say, nor the avatar I use, threaten to ignore me- threaten to leave the site. (Typical) Why do folks of your mind set make idle threats, and/ or try to pull help from "big brother" or other forum buddies? I will not be changing my avatar any time soon, so- take a breath, it will all be alright. You will make it through buddy, that's why they are just called "feelings". Post#6 I believe it was- this is the second time I have returned to this, re-read post #6 and then you can come knoocking at my door trying to chide me. That crap is not going to be tolerated. (You did read all the posts on this topic? I guess you glossed right past post#6?)
Feathers and Fins Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Apparently it was a property owner. Sherriff Dept not commenting yet. http://www.ksdk.com/rss/article/389182/3/Man-shot-in-head-while-on-float-trip https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Justin Spencer Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 If the deceased was black and in Florida the shooter would be free. This better not be tolerated in our state, an butt whoopin is one thing, killing is another. Here was my comment that I evidently should have made differently. I was trying to make the point that I hope Missouri doesn't set a dangerous precedentby allowing deadly force to be taken when it could eaily have been avoided. Sorry I used the Florida case as a comparison, the facts and trial will show us where this state stands. NoLuck Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 I think everyone knew from the start that it was the property owner that did the shooting. What was not known was why it happened. Peope are wacked out these days. Maybe there was a prior altercation that led the PO to think the way he did. Either way it went too far.

I was trying to make the point that I hope Missouri doesn't set a dangerous precedentby allowing deadly force to be taken when it could eaily have been avoided. Sorry I used the Florida case as a comparison, the facts and trial will show us where this state stands. You know, I got that. I think most everybody did. Yeah, I had to read between the lines a little, but I had the benefit of having read your posts over a long period of time. Some here seem to be way too keyed up and ready to blast away at anything that differs, even slightly, from what they've been told is the truth. I guess we should all feel lucky their only weapon is a keyboard and the only way we're likely to encounter them is if we choose to read their drivel. A big red avatar makes drivel easy to spot. John
Mark Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 The definition of who is allowed where on a stream is the high water mark on a navigatible stream - open to interpretation. Without knowing the facts, I have to wonder why the shooter didn't just walk away and call the cops, just as Zimmerman should have done. Simple answer - machoism!!! As for the political turn this thread has taken, I find it very sad and have lost respect for some. As I have said many times to friends that I disagree with politically, we could probably agree on 99% of our political views. Nothing worse than someone trying to tell me my views are all wrong and their view is all correct. The epitamy of narrowmindedness!! If you blame everything on Obama, and ignore the mess Bush II left us, then you are not a open minded thinker. I will agree our political system is a mess right now. Besides, Congress runs the country in today's world, not the president, and we all know how that is going. We have allowed Dems and Reps to divide us as a nation, when in fact, the majority of us, especially in the Midwest, are not that far apart politically.
Riverwhy Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 My guess is that both the shooter and the deceased share the blame. It is likely that the landowner was frustrated by the floaters partying on the gravel bar which he believes he owns and has the right to keep private. The floaters likely were just looking for a place to party and were convinced they had a right to be on the gravel bar because they felt it was part of the river. The shooter had a sense of bravado inspired by his hand gun and the floater had a sense of bravado inspired by a large crowd or alcohol. It is likely that either one could have either went back into the house or got into their canoes. It takes a little common sense from both sides of the discussion. A few rocks, cursing, oogling, loud music and littering does not mean you shoot someone for being on "your" gravel bar. If you are floating don't stop in someones backyard and if they do try to run you off just get back into your canoe and stop at the next gravel bar downstream. I have been run off a gravel bar three times in my life. Once on the Bryant, once on the North Fork of the White when the yahoo shot his 22 rifle into the trees for the entire time we floated past his farm, and once on the Platte River. The Bryant river incident was settled with a few kind words and his permission to camp for the night. The North Fork incident was settled in town the next time I saw the guy. (He no longer shoots his gun in the air.) The Platte River incident ended in frustration for me because I simply decided not to step foot on his sand bar again. I feel I was in the right but there are a lot of sand bars in the world. A clear set of regulations by our law makers would certainly help to ease these confrontations.
