Bird Watcher
The definition of who is allowed where on a stream is the high water mark on a navigatible stream - open to interpretation. Without knowing the facts, I have to wonder why the shooter didn't just walk away and call the cops, just as Zimmerman should have done. Simple answer - machoism!!! As for the political turn this thread has taken, I find it very sad and have lost respect for some. As I have said many times to friends that I disagree with politically, we could probably agree on 99% of our political views. Nothing worse than someone trying to tell me my views are all wrong and their view is all correct. The epitamy of narrowmindedness!! If you blame everything on Obama, and ignore the mess Bush II left us, then you are not a open minded thinker. I will agree our political system is a mess right now. Besides, Congress runs the country in today's world, not the president, and we all know how that is going. We have allowed Dems and Reps to divide us as a nation, when in fact, the majority of us, especially in the Midwest, are not that far apart politically. The two biggest problems with this country as I see it. Staunch Democrats and Staunch Republicans. Oh, and there's some mighty thin skin on some of you, but it's always been like that here. stlfisher
I am not even sure where to start with all this, but there has to be more to this story. We desperately need a fundamental change in government and our society before we manage to ruin ourselves.

ColdWaterFshr
What a grim story this is. Pretty chilling when you think about how popular that stretch of water (could be the most floated piece of river in the state) . . . . and is not some remote creek that is borderline floatable or in the gray area of navigability or any of that whole argument. I'm sure it will come out that this guy was tweaking on meth or just severely intoxicated and ready to snap on the next person that set foot on "his land". Pretty scary. stlfisher
Yes, it is. Maybe this will at least lead to clarification of the law to prevent further disputes.

Justin Spencer
The story and this thread both make me want to cry. Good Lord the acrimony. I'm with you, why can't we all just get along. I think if we replaced the alcohol with weed the world would be much more laid back. I never have to fight a stoner!
