Members EddieRay Posted August 2, 2013 Members Posted August 2, 2013 On a bass fishing forum I frequent, individuals will often describe situations where an angler is struggling to catch fish. They proceed to pull up near the spot, or to fish the spot after the other angler leaves, and fill their bag in nothing flat. I see these stories so often, but you rarely hear the story the other way around. "The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge." (Daniel J Boorstin)
Jason R. Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I always say no picture= no fish. http://flyinthesouth.com/
Geoff Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 In my group if friends that I actually fish with, I am the one upper...... :/ "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
fishinwrench Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I have a buddy that's the most annoying one-upper ever..... Everytime I fart, he s#its his pants.
J-Doc Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 LOL!!!!! Good one! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
ciRe Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 What kills me is that I will take one of my buddy's fishing and if I start catching way more than him he is in my spot or less than a foot from me. I've had him follow me up and down the stream this way. When we are in the boat he will cast over me all the time saying "oh I didn't know you were there" it gets old but he's an old friend so I know he doesn't have to much to do.
Old plug Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I fish alone about 95% of the time. I fish 1000% better alone. Ido not like to be competitive fishing to me is all about pleasure.
Members Steve-o Posted August 10, 2013 Members Posted August 10, 2013 It depends on the story that comes with it for me. If you can spin a good yarn on that one upper story I'll go with it.
ozark trout fisher Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I have friends that sometimes want to make a "competition" out of it but it's never serious and I just tend to ignore it or admit that they outfished me whether or not it actually happened. I rarely keep track of how many fish I catch and almost never measure them, so it's kinda impossible for me to get into that. Fishing has nothing at all to do with competition or one upping someone else.......if that's your purpose I suggest golf.
