Bill Babler Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 60 plus boat derby went out of Kimberling city today with some really good hands fishing it. 3 flights of boats scattered from the White River to the James to LongCreek Results were not good. 5 pounder was the biggin, and it only took a little over 14 pounds to claim the derby's top prize. Last check was 9 pounds and an oz or two and when it gets like that, it's rough. Did not hear how many limits, but does not sound like many. One of my buds fished it and they didn't catch a limit, or very many shorts. Really a tough day on the pond. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Jason Essary Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 We had it rough last night also. Think most the fish went on a feeding frenzy with the clouds and rain all day friday. They had already feed up. Quillback Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 That has me scratching my head, they were biting real well Thursday AM, I would have thought with the rain Friday and cool weather today the bass would put on the feedbag. Shows you what I know..
Quillback Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Very little generation the last couple of days - coincidence?
Feathers and Fins Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 This just shows how different TR and Beaver really are. Yesterday was a great day on Beaver with some decent bass and real nice bass on the chew. From some of the other reports I have been hearing Beaver has turned on the last few days kicking out some nice bass and TR slowed down. Makes no since to me with the rains we have had both lakes bass should be biting great where run off is occurring yet yesterday not one fish was near shore they were all in deep water locked in on shad schools. Go figure that out I ran the shore and could see plenty of worms and insects even craws feeding on them heck even fry swimming but nothing feeding on the easy meal yet move out deep and shad were being ate talk about scratching your head, the easy food is not touched but the free swimming harder to get shad are what they want. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Duck Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Yes it was a tough day, in at Viney at 5:50 and off at 9;30 to keep the ladies happy, ended with 16 spots and a few LM. Most on DS,a couple on spook and 1 on a jig.1 keeper size. We found lots of bait with fish around but they were mostly not interested. Great cool long sleeve morning, almost felt like Fall, nice cloud cover and breeze, wonderful to be able to appreciate the Rock. Good Luck, Duck.
Dewayne French Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I have to agree with Mr Bill on this. I got up way early and drove a long way to fish this one and went home busted. A great tournament a for a great cause and well run. A lot of great fishermen were in this one and I was expecting to see some good sacks. After watching the weather I thought I had a good plan and the rain and cool weather would help with the bite. NO IT DIDN'T. River bite was not there for us resulting in a couple of shorts and a 15.25" skinny fish. So deep we went and caught 15-18 fish out in deep clear water on jigs. Just could only come up with 1 more keeper and those fish were fat and healthy. Did c a lot of bait up shallow n the river from minnows to sunfish. Had a good day all in all and got to fish with an ole bud I haven't seen in a while.
Champ188 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Always good to spend time on the water with a old friend, Dewayne. In the grand scheme of things, you scored a win there regardless of how ya'll finished in the derby.
merc1997 Bo Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 could be you need to go night fishing. we have been catching an amazing amount of bass, and plenty of keepers. bo
Dewayne French Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 So ture Champ you are right on with that. I was in no way meaning I was dissapointed, any time I can fish I feel blessed. A great cause (I have a brother-n-law with diabities), fish with a friend and have fellowship with (fishing friends) it is diffently a win. On a side note I have never seen so many boats out, from 86 bridge to Cow WOW!!!! It was unreal with people tubing and sking. I was uneasy just driving and looking for people who fall off. Kinda scary.
