I have to say that I've been on the river more than a few times and maybe this all needs to be put in perspective. The river is literally covered in rafts, canoes and yaks on Saturdays in the summer. Most are small parties of 1 to 3 canoes or the like. The ones that cause discomfort in others are almost always part of a big group, beating their chest for attention while hiding in numbers. I've had a lot more floats that were uneventful than I have with where some over aged juvenile delinquent made the trip less than enjoyable.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

When I was going to school in Kansas City wasn't nothing to come to my apartment have girls out front smoking weed and flash their goods.

Like I said, if you can't do it in a grocery store then why should it be appropriate on the river?

Wanna bet? There are a ton of pics of flashing going on in stores. I would post some, but......

Whatever the heck goes on on rivers like the Niangua during summer is scant issue for me. I'm never gonna know about it. There are a whole lot of really good rivers out there with essentially no party crowd, mostly just fisherman so why subject yourself to that kind of crap? Just have to get away from the ones with outfitters and you'll be fine. I used to love the BIg Piney and rivers like that in the summer, but now I basically have a self-imposed rule (at least here in Missouri.) If a stretch of river has even one outfitter of any size, I'm EXTREMELY reluctant to float it May-September.....even on weekdays. There needs to be a pretty good reason.

You would be surprised at the number of secluded rivers to float, not to mention hundreds of others to wade. And the fishing is so much better where there is actually room to cast without hooking a canoe or kayak.

The only problem I see on the Niangua is the sheer numbers of people. They take the river over on summer weekends, there is no fishing from the access down. There are some obnoxious ones around, but that can be said about a lot rivers.

If Redbeard wants to hear some complaints I have one for him. If had kept his darn bulldozer out of the river when building his campground and left a natural barrier of vegetation the great hole in front of his property would likely still be there along with the hogs that inhabited it. Now it's just another shallow run for the most part. He's a first class hypocrite. I wonder if he's related to Jim Rogers?

No kidding! I had forgotten about THAT! Those boulders were a permanent structure in the river that created one of the best runs that could be accessed by road. He wanted to use that spot for a launch/takeout and was probably afraid too many knuckleheads would swamp their canoes there, so the basturd goes in with a friggin' D80 and totally "redesigns" that stretch. How the hell can you get away with that? Especially when it was a MDC owned area WAY before he came along.

Now I'm pissed all over again ! I like the folks and crew at Riverfront and at Adventure, but NRO, Redbeards, and The Park really should be reigned in until they realize that they are USING the river, not OWNING it.
