jeb Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 It's an 08 we bought new in 09. Had them switch out the 2 stroke for a 4 stroke. 460 hours on it now, 99% of which is bass fishing. So I don't use it as a ski boat often, but it's still nice to have the versatility. Been a great boat so far. The towel drying over the windshield is not attractive, though! J-Doc Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Skeeter TZX190 What I WISH I had and what I'm looking at getting within the next year (or more). Except it will have the new 150SHO on it. Would it be "crass" to mount downriggers to a bass rig like this? LOL! They are removable after all. I could use them or stow them when not in use. Need marine repair? Ron Burgundy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Why not use lead core and u don't have to mess with downriggers? Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Feathers and Fins Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 I use to use lead-core but really hated it for several reason first is it was heavy feeling and took some of the fight out of fishing not to mention the large volume of line you had to let out to get down deep. I can manage both my riggers without much hassle and only takes 50 feet of line out plus dropping the rigger to 14 ft for me to reach 35fow. Riggers ran the way I do put me on contour and holding it much more effective than having a large amount of line out and reduces potential for snags also increases my ability to turn much sharper while keeping the bait in the strike zone. Riggers benefits far out-weigh any detractions. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Ron Burgundy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 If a guy can't afford riggers then they should consider core....just a thot. Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Old plug Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I made a wooden mount for the rear on my boat that attaches over the cleats. It works fine.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 two rods with leadcore will run about 100 for the line depending on brand type and amount. A pair of downriggers will run you from 180 to 500 unless you go crazy with the all electronic stuff. Mine ran 350 for the pair. I replaced lead core line every 6 months to a year so in 3 to 4 years they are paid for. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
