XP 590 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 There's a guide on this river system who brags he has a fly that "seems to fall so naturally....like a piece of chummed corn"!! I fell out of my chair laughing when I read that on his site. Apparently there's so much chummed corn on this river that he considers it "natural". At least it's a fly. Different strokes I guess.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 9, 2013 Root Admin Posted September 9, 2013 Seen a guy on Taney with a 50# bag of fish chow, seemed to be catching pretty good.....guess that is catching rather than fishing. At least fish chow would be good for the fish and not kill them like corn! Fifty pounds!!!! Wow! That's why our fish are getting so big. If everyone brought 50 pounds of fish food, we'd have some monsters!!
ollie Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 When I was a kid my parents took us to Taney all the time to trout fish. I can remember pulling up next to private docks where the owners kept cases of corn for chumming. I say pulled up next to them because they told us we could and sure enough, not long after they chummed you could catch your limit. Gavin Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 They have been chumming on the White so long that it can hardly be a revelation...Heck...Nelson Renick (Founder of Ozark Fly Fishers)...used to fish his "Corn Wooly" down there with great success...
jdmidwest Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 There are fishermen and then there are those that just fish. I guess that is why they stock it so much to even up the fishing for all. Members Col Ron Posted September 12, 2013 Author Members Posted September 12, 2013 Laker, I agree with you, I am not talking about Paul's fish, that's why I started a new topic. Paul is a great fisherman, knows how to fish day or night. Chumming was mentioned in the other thread, and questions were raised if it was legal or not. Just trying to clear things up after checking with F&G.
Justin Spencer Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I have a fly like looks like a full corn cob for the really big browns, just let it tumble down the shoals.
