Al Agnew Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 You didn't say what they looked like, but if they were illegal aliens, even if they are caught by the conservation agent and ticketed, they almost never show up to pay the fine, and are impossible to track down. This is getting to be a huge problem in areas with illegal aliens around.

Fishslayer88 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Mr. Dan don't make his way up the river as often as he should Idk why business would be pretty good I imagine.
fishinwrench Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 So if you fail to show ID and don't provide a SSN they'll just write a ticket with no name on it and hand it to you? That's hilarious
ollie Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Al, you are right on the Illegal alien thing. Down in Mac County at Noel there is a large chicken plant and there are a lot of them that are hitting Elk fishing w/o license and so forth. The local agent told me it wasn't worth his time to write the ticket because he knew they would give him no ID or the wrong ID or they wouldn't show up for court date and it was nearly impossible to track them down since multiple families live in one house and they all cover for each other. Hard to make the conviction stick in that situation. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

So what y'all are saying is that a person can just stand there and pretend to not understand a word the lawman is saying.....and the lawman will just walk away? I'd have to see that to believe it. What keeps the lawman from placing them under arrest?
Quillback Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Things are messed up when people who are here illegally are more above the law than legal residents.
Members Rustynuts Posted September 17, 2013 Author Members Posted September 17, 2013 Al , didn't really want to make this about Illegal immigration, But I guess that is what it really is. As Ollie has stated the Elk is also being hit with the same kind of resource rape. I have know idea if these guys have legal status or not but they definitely come from a culture that will take and take until nothing is left. Thank the lord I am older now because the rage I felt Sunday night would have triggered a very bad scene just a few years ago. I'm not sure what the solution to this but I got the feeling that MDC feels they are wasting their time writing the ticket because the conviction rate is so low. I don't know what else to do but personally give these guys a hard time when I see them with undersize fish. That just might turn into a Crocker / Dart confrontation on the riverbank.
fishinwrench Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Ya know, if this is someone that you see fairly regularly you can approach them minus the holier than thou attitude. Chat it up, share a beer. You might find them interesting and halfway decent people. Be friendly and then it's highly likely that your views will rub off on them. I'm proud to say that I have "converted" a few Hoosiers in my day Not many people will turn down the chance to upgrade the quality and integrity of their associates. Just something to consider.
Members Rustynuts Posted September 17, 2013 Author Members Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks Wrench that's the attitude I strive for , appreciate the reminder.
