Champ188 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I will 2nd the RC STX by Luck E Strike. They are 1/3 the cost of the megabass and there is no difference aside from the brand name printed on them and the hardware that comes on them which you can replace. Luck E Strike made them as close to the Vision as possible and they did a great job in doing so. Don't let anyone tell you any different either. People that are die hard vision 110 chuckers just won't come to grips that the Luck E Strike version is identical in just about every way. They will claim the action is different....yada yada yada....a bunch of bull if you ask me. That being said I am a SPRO McStick man though and through and that is the jerk bait I tie on 90% of the time. Comes out of the pack with gammy hooks and have only had 1 that didn't suspend perfectly out of the pack that filled with water and SPRO replaced it plus threw in an extra 2 baits for my troubles. They add new colors every year and I have caught fish on just about all colors on the spectrum. Favorites being Norman Flake, Blue Bandit and Chrome Shad. I haven't thrown the ghost patterns I have yet but I would probably suggest you get at least one to try as translucent colors on TR are a good choice. X2 on every word of this.
Members Kenny Gann Posted September 19, 2013 Author Members Posted September 19, 2013 Thanks for all your comments fellas. This gives me a good place to start without spending a fortune through trial and error,There are so many variations off baits out there that it is mind bogling, Thanks again
Ham Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Lucky Strike has done a great job copying the Meagabass colors even using the same names, but the RC Stix are NOT the same bait. They look the same, but they don't fish the same. They don't throw the same. They don't run the same. Throw what you want. If the RC Stix catch fish for you, Great. I am a big fan of the McSticks. I also own a bunch of Pointer 78's and 100's. I like the Megabass 110's a lot, but they are fragile. I have bought RC Stixs. They did not catch fish for me when other jerkbaits were catching fish. Pretty much done fishing them. I've seen days when color mattered a lot. I've seen days when size mattered a lot. I've seen days where depth mattered a lot. I carry a lot of jerkbaits. I can't recomend just one or two. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Megabass guys just get butt hurt for some reason over the RC STX vs the Vision 110 debate for whatever reason......they are identical. Maybe because the Megabass guys feel the need to defend their purchase because they pay $25 a pop so they feel justified in their decision cause they paid more. I'll take 3 RC STX to for the price of your 1 Vision 110 all day long and twice on Sunday. But to each their own, catching fish is the bottom line if you think the Vision 110 gets you more bites/fish then that is the end goal and confidence is the best bait in your tackle box.
Ham Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Well ab, I own both. I've fished both. I'm not sure why RC Stix guys feel the need to argue that their cheaper bait is the same as the Megabass. They ain't the same. I wish there was no difference between the two lures. I'm not gonna psychoanalyse what you're feeling butt hurt about (the move to the SEC) or your need to justify being cheap. I don't care. I did want to point out that there are differences. Yes, it costs a lot more for those minor differences, but that's how it goes. PLEASE keep buying all the RC Stix you can afford. I hope you catch fish by the boat load on them. I'm pretty well stocked up on jerkbaits right now. What I am a little short on is fishing time. When I'm on the water, I'm going to throw what I have the most confidence in at that moment. With jerkbaits, that's NEVER going to be RC Stix. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Gavin Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I own both...and they are similar but slightly different...Just got back from testing them side by side in my in-ground pool... There are a couple of differences.....The shape is almost identical but the RC has a thicker bill and a slightly blunted nose. The weight transfer system is the same. The Mega has more rattles...and a sharper, crisper, louder rattle...the Mega goes snap, crack and pop and the RC thuds kinda like a wiggle wart. Hardware & Paint...great finish & hardware on the Mega...Lousy rings & cheap hooks on the RC... Performance... Depth...Bought the same... Wiggle...bought the same... Suspension...The Mega...floats nose down at a 45....the RC...maybe 20 degrees nose down... Slow float...The RC floated a lot faster....maybe twice as fast... Think you could get the RC to behave like a Mega with a bit of fiddling...but not the same bait...One might outfish the other on any given day depending on what the fish want...Just the way it is with jerkbaits.
96 CHAMP Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 biggest bass i ever caught was 7-12 on a deep diving rouge, chrome black back, maybe we should go back to the basics that got us where we are at today???

With jerkbaits, that's NEVER going to be RC Stix. That's funny. I am not cheap but am no sucker either shelling out $25 when I can get away with the same thing for $8. Its a rational decision and I am a rational person. Again, to each their own. I am sure there are days when you would smoke me with the Vision 110, other days I would smoke you with the RC STX and the next day someone smoke both of us on a Smithwick Rogue.
Ham Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Eureka! We have a point of agreement. There is no one magic bait. Some days the fish react better to one than the other. That's why I carry several brands. I do think the Megabass is better than the others, but I don't rep for them or pimp them. MOST days a Spro McStick is all you need.
