If they are "shutdown" why are the rangers and other officials patrolling the ramps and campgrounds are they going to get bonuses for writing extra citations. There isn't any park attendants are there? I just think it is funny that the rangers are willing to write citations when we have a pass that allows us to use their facilties. I need to get my long necked boots because the CRAP is getting to high to deal with.

I just received an email from the Cape Fair Marina that the Corp is closing the ramps at Cape Fair which ruffles my feathers. I have sent email to Roy Blunt, Claire McCaskill, & Billy Long giving them my thoughts on the closing of the area lakes launching ramps which we have paid a yearly fee to use these ramps and that it takes no supervision of the corp or rangers to keep these ramps open. :serious-business:

I would like everyone to contact your elected representatives and voice you sentiments on the action of the Corp in closing these launching ramps. I also that there are upcoming elections and the we will remember who does what..... :eyes-on-fire:

I'm no Obama fan but the parks could be open tomorrow.

Amen. It takes 2 sides to create a standoff. Bastages, ALL of them.

It may not get the ramps open but at least they will get messages expressing our dissatisfaction with the present administrations no action on the problems of this whole country and its people. They all need to start listening to the majority and not the minorities on the problems and work out solutions. Not the idea of its my ball and we are going to play how I want to or no play at all.....BS.......

Guys writing the politicians in Washington is useless, There is however a potential solution and one that has a slim chance of happening.

I would suggest that if enough people were to write all their respective State officials that they could under “Article 5 of the Constitution” Call for a Constitutional Convention to introduce an Amendment. This is legal and constitutional though it has never been done officially. However the 27th amendment was done via States ratification though it took 204 years.

I believe in today’s climate that the people are of a mind that with enough force brought to bear by letter writing there is a slim chance a 28th amendment could be brought before a Constitutional Amendment and if it were to happen would be adopted. This would effectively cut out the Washington politics and place laws on them by Constitutional authority that would force change to this nation.

Here is one of the examples I found I could agree with.

Congressional Reform Act of 2013

The Congress of the United States of America shall be limited to term of service for the respective legislative branch to be as follows.

  1. Senators shall serve no more than one 6 year term concurrently.
  2. House members shall serve no more than Three, two year terms concurrently

The Legislative branches of the Federal Government of the United States of America to include (Executive, Senate and House of Representatives) shall

  1. Abide by all laws enacted with no exemptions allowed
  2. No grants or waiver to any person/s, groups or affiliations thereof may be granted
  3. Pass no law of taxation without two-thirds majority approval
  4. Pass no law of taxation that shall not apply equally to all citizens of this nation in coverage or financial responsibility.

The Federal Government shall be required by law to have a Balanced Budget no later than May the 1st of each year.

  1. The House of Representatives shall by no later than March 1st of each year have a Proposal for vote by the House on a Balanced budget to be no more than 60 percent of the Gross Domestic Product.
  2. The house no Later than March 15th of each year send to the Senate a bill for consideration for a balanced federal budget.
  3. The Senate shall vote on the proposed Balanced budget Amendment no later than March 22nd of each year.
  4. The Senate shall after vote if passed send the balanced budget Bill to the President for consideration no later than March the 28th of each year.
  1. In the event the Senate cannot vote for the bill in its entire form on March the 22nd an immediate letter to the Speaker of the house shall be notifying the speaker that a “Veto” has occurred.
  2. The Speaker of the house shall confirm within 24 hours to the Senate Majority Leader of receipt of notification.
  3. The speaker of the House and Majority Leader of the Senate shall within 48 hours of notification call together an conference committee of 20 members of the house and senate to be comprised of 10 members from each house and equal numbers of each party.
  4. This committee shall come together to form a Balanced Budget and to have a Balanced Budget prepared for vote no later than April the 20th of each year.
  1. Upon Committee approval the Balanced Budget Bill shall be presented no later than April the 21st of each year to the house for vote. Upon House vote it shall be presented to the Senate for vote no later than April the 23rd of each year.
  2. Balanced budget bill may be delayed or exempted in time of natural disaster or war conflict on United States Soil.
  3. Failure to provide for a Balanced Budget by May 1st ratified by all three legislative branches of government shall result in immediate suspension of all legislative Branches of government pay

I disagree that contacting the politicians is useless, it's pretty much a volume game, if they get lots of responses on something, they'll usually focus on that. Doesn't mean that they may get something done.

I'm in favor of a balanced budget amendment BTW.
