Big Brown Trout Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 walked around jolly mill today, didn't see any trout. even walked a bit of the creek tossing walnuts in to see if I could scare some trout out of hiding. saw nothing but suckers and a couple tiny trout. hope it hasn't already been fished out. (also checked down at conservation access and I couldn't see a thing from the top of the bridge) hopefully there are still some good ones left. Let the summer of Carp, begin.
timsfly Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 I'm sure they have all been caught out, no reason for any of us to go fish there now ? Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
XP 590 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm sure they have all been caught out, no reason for any of us to go fish there now Too late now. How about no reason to post that info in the first place. *********** PS---while we're on the topic, where is this place?
timsfly Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Oh it is a only a few miles west of monett missouri about 3 miles south off hwy 60, I think there is a map on the MDC web page, there are a few signs but you have to watch close, nice little creek, but apperantly there are no trout there now Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Jerry Rapp Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 do you guys really enjoy catching non native fish? Just asking. Is this the future of all fishing?
Big Brown Trout Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 i enjoy catching trout, there aren't really many native trout here, and hopefully it isn't the future of all fishing but with greater demand nature can't keep up a steady supply to meet it. I happily support our fish hatcheries. I sometimes dabble with catching native species, but everyone is entitled to fishing for what they like. also Tim are being sarcastic or serious? Let the summer of Carp, begin.
ollie Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Jerry, I only fish for the slim rockets in fall and winter. Once spring rolls around I'm on that bass train! For me though, this place is only 20 minutes from the house so it only makes sense for me to fish it. And yes, there can be some nice trout in there. I have caught bass in there as well. Personally I prefer fishing for smallies, but the trout fishing can be fun as well. trythisonemv 1 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

I hope you meant to say that there aren't any native trout here. The nearest natives to the Ozarks would be Brook trout (char) in the Driftless Area or Cutthroat, specifically Greenbacks of the eastern slopes in Colorado. Andy
