LittleRedFisherman Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Think I have everybody number put in my phone thru messaging.. Anybody heard from Phil? What's his status on coming? There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Terrierman Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I wish I was going to be there tomorrow too. But I guess Saturday will just have to do.
Ham Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Hey LRF, Take a look at the Cabela's Guidewear stuff as well. Bass Pro copied it for their 100+ stuff. They will frequently mark them down in the off season to reduce inventory or if their is a style change from one year to the next. I love my Guidewear stuff. It has lasted for many years. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 12, 2013 Root Admin Posted December 12, 2013 I'm planning on being there 7 am on Friday morning. I can bring a jon boat, 18 foot shawnee with a 25 hp motor/ trolling motor. Room for 2 fly fishing, 3 spin fishing. If there's plenty of boats, I won't bring it. I'm assigned to the lodge room that Randolph (Quillback) is staying. I'll probably only fish on Friday so don't plan around me for Saturday. I'll fish wherever with whom ever... just tell me where to be at 7 am on Friday. My cell phone is 417 * 337 * 4130
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 12, 2013 Root Admin Posted December 12, 2013 This is who I see coming- gotmuddy - Friday early through the weekend. Bringing a boat but would rather go with someone else. ham - Friday morning with boat through the weekend. littlered - Friday 9 am through the weekend. quill - Friday noon through the weekend. hog - Friday 7 am with large jon boat through the weekend. terri - Saturday am till Sunday. phil - Friday 7 am bringing a boat, Friday only. add to this with more detail so we can figure out who's going where Friday morning, with whom in what boats. We can coordinate where to meet quill at noon.
Quillback Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 BTW you don't have to meet me at the cabin, I can drive to wherever you folks are at.
hoglaw Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 I'm bringing my boat - 20'x56" aff with 90 jet and trolling motor. Room for three easy, maybe 4. Phil, I'd like to get an early start as well, so I'm happy to meet you wherever. I don't have any qualms about leaving a boat in a parking lot up there as long as my gear is locked in the truck. I've never had a problem (knock on wood). I think we can plan a meeting spot tonight when the generation predictions come out. I'd like to be able to catch the rise and ride it a ways. My boat doesn't have any problems heading back upstream in heavy current, but if a long float trip is an option, that's my preference. My indication right now for catching the rise, if they follow current patterns, is that if we meet at a take-out, say Cotter access, at 7 a.m., then we can leave a vehicle and ride together upstream to White Hole. We'd be in the water around 8, which should be just ahead of the rise. They ran 15k cfs this morning which is great jerkbait water IMO. We'd have a ten mile float which would take about three to four hours drifting. The next access down from Cotter is Rim Shoals and it's easy enough to motor back up from there to Cotter if we decide to go that far. I really like the idea of floating tomorrow rather than running up and down a dozen times. Plus, if we get a long way downstream and the weather gets bad around lunch, then we won't have a long boat ride home. I'm totally flexible here and will do whatever everyone else wants to do, but I think my suggestion is a decent game plan.
hoglaw Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 So it looks like the early folks are me, Little Red, Phil, Ham, and Muddy with Quil at noon. That being the case, we'll have five people ready to fish at 7 or 8ish. So I can take two in my boat and Phil can take one in his maybe? Then Phil can rendezvous with Quil wherever we happen to be on the river at the time. Yep, I think the way to do this is to plan a float and we all meet at the take-out, where we leave a chase vehicle or two then we all head upstream together to the put-in. That should be easy enough. We can plan the meeting time later tonight, but I'm thinking we meet at the take-out around 7:30 or 8, then up to White Hole maybe.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 12, 2013 Root Admin Posted December 12, 2013 Suggestion: Hoglaw's boat - Hog and Phil put in at Cotter and boat up to White Hole and pickup whoever can make it there by 8:30 am (Quillback, LittleRed, Gotmuddy). Meet Ham there with his boat. Put Ham's boat in there and float to Cotter (shuttle him back up to get his trailer at the end of the day). Gotmuddy, LittleRed and Quillback jump in with us. We'll have 2 boats to float and fish all day. Quillback, if you can't get there till noon, we can arrange a time to meet you at an access, say Wildcat? Someone who knows the river can speak to where we'd be about noon. Can do lunch at that time. Edit: I can meet at 7 am at the ramp... be at White Hole at 7:30? Whatever time works for everybody. We can fish around the access and wait for anyone who can't make it will 8-9 am.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 12, 2013 Root Admin Posted December 12, 2013 It doesn't sound like you'll need my boat so I won't bring it. I'd rather fish 3 or even 4 to a boat... more fun and fellowship. And if we fish out of 2 boats, we can stay close together.
