Quillback Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Do those Zig jigs have round heads? I have some steelhead jigs that have been sitting in my closet since I moved to Arkansas. They're marabou jigs 1/8 - 1/16, might have a few 1/4 also. Pinks and whites mostly. All ball head, hopefulyl they'll work?
gotmuddy Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 zigjigs have flat sided heads. I will bring my canoe, mid 30s is way too low to get me in a kayak everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Quillback Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Well I have some Float-n-Fly jigs. I wonder if they are any tackle shops nearby the resort that sell any Zigs?
LittleRedFisherman Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Quillback, don't know if anybody carries them up there, but if you go to zigjig.net, you can order then, if you ordered some tonight, i'd bet you'd have them by weekend, usually very fast turnaround with them! Just ordered some last night, got some more 1/16 and 1/8 oz. olive ginger, tri olive, white and brown and orange usually cover it. Ham and others with more experience could chime in on this. I"m bringing all my jerkbaits just in case, would love to throw a pointer for a 20 plus incher, but don't sound like there's been heavy flows lately.. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
gotmuddy Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Well I have some Float-n-Fly jigs. I wonder if they are any tackle shops nearby the resort that sell any Zigs? the guy that sells them lives somewhere near you I believe. They sell them at Harps in mountain home and at Genes quick stop at the end of cranfield road. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
LittleRedFisherman Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Quillback, here's a clip from Wildman's outdoor show they air in Little Rock where he fished with Richard with the Zig Jig, pretty good clip here on how its used. Love to get into some browns like they did here!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Gavin Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 You can flat side any round head jig with a pair of smooth jaw pliers...gives them more wobble on the fall...might beat up the paint a tad, but that really does not matter.
Quillback Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks guys for the info on the Zig jigs, I'll see if I can order a few. Good idea Gavin - I'll try that out also.
Ham Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I fully understand that other jigs will catch trout. I certainly understand the desire to use what you have before you buy more. I just have so much confidence in the Zig Jig. I've fished with Richard and he catches his share of trout and then some. I don't fish mine exactly like he does, but there's a lot more than one way to get the job done. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Al Agnew Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 With the forecast the way it is, I'm not planning on floating for smallmouth anymore. If I get down there I'll be trout fishing.
