Anyone toss the float n fly around on the Rock during the winter? I tried it a bit last year and picked up a few fish, going to try and fish it more this winter.

A few years ago I got into it and made up a bunch of FnF jigs. Tried the Rock and Bull for smallies but caught mostly whites, crappie, and channel cats so I have mostly put that stuff up.

Ya. I always think about investing in a setup for the F'n'F but I never get around to it and just keep flinging my suspending jerk baits instead in the cold water months.

I am planning on trying the float-n-fly also this winter, just going to use my 10 foot crappie rods and spinning reals i have, invest in some jigs and different bobbers and give it a shot. see how things work out before i decide to invest in any special rods if i even do that. as far as where to go i have given that plenty of thought also, hopefully we will be able to post some nice pics. right time+ right place = succes. GOOD LUCK

Champ you don't need specialty rods. When I got into it there weren't any. A tear shaped bobber works best as it will stand up when a fish has gently taken the fnf jig.
