Old plug Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I am headed down to Bennett sometime this winter. I am not a flyer rodder thought. I am intending on taking 7 ft rod and some small plastic worms and over soft baits plus a couple of tiny crank baits I use for crappie now and then. Get skunked or not I will do my rolling over the bottom thing. I used to catch some trout years ago in the Huzzah creek. Always bottom rolling plastic.
laker67 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 special regs for winter time. soft stuff will get you 10 dollars or 10 days in laclede county jail. But, on a side note, it will catch you alot of fish.
Old plug Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I miss read them I will not be going down there now.
fishinwrench Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I miss read them I will not be going down there now. Aw c'mon! A strip of squirrel hide will do anything a piece of soft plastic will.
laker67 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 maribou jigs probably work as good or better than soft stuff. You might as well go ahead and go.
Old plug Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Well wrench i might just tie up some wooly worms or something that i can still cast with that light rod and we will be going down there. I bought some stick o worms down at pro bass that are only 3 " long and about 1/4" in dia. I was going to put a 1/16 oz crappie jig thru the thick end of them and roll them over the bottom. Looks like something a trout would like. I bet small mouth would hook up on that also in the streams.
