LittleRedFisherman
Had a neat experience today! 4 years ago during the last ice storm, we spent a week in Searcy with family while our power was out. I trout fished the Little Red every day in the evening for a few hours while down there. One day while fishing I keep passing this fellow fishing off the bank, he'd talk to me every time I went by, so on about the 3rd pass, I asked would you like to join me in the boat, bout 30 min of daylight left? He was elated, we fished till dark and he told me his life story, had just lost his wife to cancer, and traveled at work to keep busy and from being lonely, he was from the Texas area, and stayed on the river while doing business near heber springs.. The fish really turned on to, it was down in the 20's about this time, but we kept fishing and talking about life as they just kept coming in the boat. Well today I get a call from an odd number, and it was him. He said the predicted ice storm reminded him of that day, and he still had my number, so thought he'd call and see how things were going. We talked for about 30 minutes about life and of course fishing lol. Really neat how being nice to someone and conversing of life can make a new friend, and an impression. Makes me feel good considering how shy and awkward at times I once was years ago, glad I came out of that. Maybe i'll get to fish with the fellow again someday!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Mitch f
Great story, sometimes just a small olive branch helps in untold ways. I'm sure you made him feel like they are still good people left in this world. Turns out it helped both of you! Greasy B
Good story. Yep of you give people the benefit of the doubt more times than not you are rewarded. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

Old plug
I toohave met most if my friends thru fishing. There are some however that can be pretty up nose. They come buy here at times when there is a big tournament going on. If I am down in the yard working on the garden like i usually am in mid day.( We have a big ornamental garden) I usually ask how fishermen are doing. Some if those guts are real uppity. I will relate a short story here about that type. There was a big crappie masters tournament going on. This pro or pretending to be was fishing the area around the docks. OH ! was he ever pretty in his all red boat, red jump suit and decals on everything. He had 6 rods sticking out the front of that boat. He comes along by mine and I ask how he was doing. Never acknowledged I was even there. Well he makes a turn with his boat and was headed for the area between my dock and my neighbors. Well my neighbor and I had not month before put down a real big pile of those gnarly tops you see on oak trees. I try tell the guy " you better not stick that bow up in there because its just full of heavy brush. He actually gave me a dirty look and went and snagged all 6 of those rods. I always felt he he was feeling above talking to me.
