Looked like there were so many predators it was keeping the shad from "balling" back up together. The probably crunched everyone one of the shad before they got away, or all the predators quit when they could not fit anouther one in their greedy gults.

Clock is set right on. That was not the question, it is a feeding frenzy of which I speak, but it has a certain oddity about it. It has happened here more this Winter than I have seen in the past. It does happen but not to the extent of this year.

Keep guessing, someone was very close.

The bass seem to have started diving down through the shad as they were on or close to the bottom.

The school was moving the shad from the bottom to top and horizontally in the water column. Look at his GPS cursor, he has moved his boat quite a ways to stay on the fish

And he kept the spoon on the deck, usually this time of year we are always vertically jiggjng a spoon. Should have thrown the rig at em, mite have caught two or three on one cast. I know you love throwin that thing !

My guess is that they have cut the shad into smaller schools and taken advantage of having fewer to manage.

Thanks, Mr. Bill. Me and Champ are headed to the Rock Wednesday, unless he's posted a new itinerary. I get the bandage off and stitches out tomorrow from my carpal tunnel surgery. Looking forward to catching some.
