bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Don't have a picture of my biggest spot but it was 3 1/2, caught it in the first tournament I fished on the Rock on a 4" cut tail worm on a pro slider head. Biggest smallmouth was a few years ago around the dam fishing with my brother in law. It was brutally tough that weekend but we found one bluff bank that was producing a fish or two every time we made a pass, dragging jigs painfully slow. By far the most aggressive bite I had, pitched next to a standing tree at the end of the bluff and about lost my rod when I turned to say something to him. It was only 3lbs 9ozs but as much trouble as I have finding brown fish at Table Rock I was pretty happy with it. Biggest largemouth was 4lbs 15ozs on a Wiggle Wart while my wife and I were on our first trip to Big Cedar. Classic wart bite, just felt like it quit wiggling all the sudden. Second biggest was a 4lb 4oz largemouth, caught the next day off the same bank as my PB smallie, also on a jig.

There are no smallies of considerable size at the spot you mentioned.
tapout Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 My wife caught a 8lb at least - no scale (25 inches and thick) - LM on a redfin near KC. I was fishing deep and she kept asking me to go over to the bank so I finally did and well.... her redfin got slurped and just took off down the bank. I had to troll over to the submerged limb and reach about two feet deep to lip the bass as it had wrapped her up good in the limb. The hook was bent and hanging in the outside of the lip by one barb, had the bass shook once more I'm sure it would of swam free but it tuckered out and just waited for us. I still have to listen to her brag about how I should listen to her when she wants to go fish shallow. It was awesome. Only thing better than me catchin a toad is my wife or kids catchin one. I I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar
bassman1308 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Biggest LM- 9.8 near pt 19 on TR. 4-26-1989, 9 PM. Easy to remember those details. My first grandson was born that morning and I became a grandpa. My wife had an 8'8 in a h/w tourney. First bass she ever caught. Don't think she realizes to this day how big that was. I've weighted in over 40 lb 2 or three times but the day I remember most was In April 1992. Our local club had a tourney out of Big Indian/Baxter area, that produced over 430 lbs, total. My partner & I weighted in our 10 bass limit (per boat)weighting 33-15 but that didn't excite anyone but us. It took 54 + to win and 37+ for 2 nd place. 8 of the 17 tourney boats had over 30 lbs. Best tourney ever for our club and it's been around since 1973. Every tourney on TR that day produced big weights. That day was by far and away the best fishing day I've ever heard of on TR and that covers a lot of years. Fun to rehash those times.

Were most of these caught bed fishing? I'm curious of what the conditions were like.
Sprint21fter Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Sounds like the perfect storm for pre-spawners on a jerkbait and wart.
bassman1308 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Sprint's right about pre-spawners. Fish were definitely moving up. It was a noon to midnight tourney. It was overcast and rained till 5PM with water running in the back of the coves pulling them in . Most of my fish( I had 3 limits ) were caught on a 1/2 oz Stanley SB but after dark the jig produced better, at least for my partner & I . The 54 lb string was all crank baits fished in the very back ends. They said they lost at least two 7+ lbers at the boat. They also said about half their casts were wasted b/c of the leaves, debris, but I imagine it was hard to give up on the crank baits. The better strings were caught in the back ends while the guys fishing otherwise had lighter weights. Most were throwing SB.
Champ188 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Hard to beat warm runoff in the spring. Those are the days when you catch so many, including big ones, that you wonder just how dumb you really are the times when you fish your butt off all day for three bites. LOL
Ealy Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks for painting that picture. I'm gonna go ahead and tie a spinnerbait on right now! Let's hope this spring produces for us this year.
