Kvd Signature Series Cranking Rod

Bass pro has these on sale for 59.99. I was looking at the 7'10'' rod. It says cranking on it. For the price in thinking about getting one. Any one tried one?

Tackle Warehouse has them on sale also but 99.99. So 59.99 seems to be a good deal. A couple things I don't like is that:

1 - Quantum in my opinion has gone down in quality in the last 10 years. Used to have the Quantum Energy's and they were great and tried some of their newer stuff about 5 years ago and took it back to BPS. Garbage.

2 - The handle on that cranking stick looks a little short...I prefer a longer handle for flinging deep cranks (which is what a 7'10" rod is designed for)

3 - Maybe it is a misprint but on TW is says that model is rated for 1/4-3/8oz???? What deep crank weighs 3/8th oz or less?

I am waiting for the Duckett Ghost myself which TW said would be available for purchase online in a week or two (or over the phone if you want it now). Just my 2 cents as I have been looking for a deep cranking rod for a few months. The 7'6" MH Ghost according to its ratings looks like a winner plus I just want to have one Duckett to see what the hype is about. They have quite the following these days.

That Quantum rod is HEAVY. If you're looking for a budget-priced cranking rod, look no further than the BPS store brand rod. I'm not a BPS supporter by any stretch of the imagination, but their 7-10 cranking rod is designed by Stacey King and is a darn good rod. I own one and am very proud of it.

I'm a big fan of Duckett rods (have half a dozen or more Micro Magics) and they have some good cranking rods, too, but you're gonna spend better than $150 for one of those.

That was my 2nd choice but I have a $50 gift card to Tackle Warehouse which will be going towards the Duckett. Otherwise I would have gone with the BPS cranking stick. Felt it in the BPS store a month ago and liked the feel and action of the rod. Plus the lure weight rating was where it should be for the 6xd/DD22/DT16/20. etc deep divers.

Well I am aware most of you do not like ugly stik rods but next time your at Wally world grab ahold of the Ugly Stik PRO LITE. Pck it up in one hand and any other rod the same length in the other and compare the weight. Another thing I like about the spinning model is it has metal rings on the reel seat. i do not care for any other kind. The 7 ft spinning rod has only 5 spacious guides and a tip top on it.i think that is enough guide to suit me on a rod. I also have 7 ft bait caster.

I went ahead and picked up the kvd one. It didn't seen that heavy and was not near as heavy as the wright and McGill glass rod. It is rated up to an oz. I really liked the feel. The handle does seen a little short. Overall for the price I think I will be more than happy with it. Also going to throw some bigger swimbaits on it as well.

X's 2 on the rod being heavy. Maybe the overall length to me it felt way to front heavy and was to bulky feeling at the rod seat. JMHOP.

For 59.99 I don't think you can go wrong. Heck even an Ugly Stick will cost you about 50 bucks.

The reviews that I have read on the KVD rods is that they were over priced and heavy. One quote was that they should be priced in the $80 range. At $60, you'd probably be OK with it.
