fishinwrench Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 MWP does check our boat registrations occasionally... not in the last few years though. And they used to on the lake itself when they were separate water patrol. Probably not anymore. USCG Auxiliary has offered to come and inspect our boats for registration and safety this spring. Give us a sticker if we pass. It's voluntary and free. Look at your BOAT registration card. Nothing on it identifies the outboard that is on it, and nothing on the outboard registration slip says that you must carry it at all times. If you wanted to borrow one of Babler's 20hp Yammie's for a few days then you could do so without going up to the DMV and paying an assortment of fees. And any MOWP officer that writes you up for it is just being a thug, plain and simple, unless they are investigating a theft......which they NEVER do, EVER.
Bill Babler Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 This law on the TWIC deal is kind of like a lay-person trying to interpret the Bible. If you have 5 ministers read a passage all 5 will have a different interpretation of the words that are written. Wrench pointed out the memo, and I'm sure this is correct, but he read it to mean no lic. For some reason both the TWIC and the USCG regional office out of Saint Louie do not read it that way. This is where we have to get our Federal Lic, so until they say no I'm just gonna have to cave in. Appreciate the info however. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
fishinwrench Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 No prob, Bill. Let us know after 3 years if you've ever been required to physically show that card to anyone.
Bill Babler Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 I have to have a lic on my ATV It renews ever 3 yrs and it has a sticker just exactly like the outboard motor only its red. That number on your sticker is registered to you. When I was on the Water Patrol, we used to have to run that number on every stop. It was a nightmare. About 10 in a hundred would be correct. At that time you also had to have a trolling motor registered. That cancelled that. Thank Goodness http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

I would bet my boat that you are correct, but what ya gonna do. Rock and a Hard Spot. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Old plug Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Agency spending what a nightmare. I can tell you the lady behind the counter was about a GS-3 . Check it out and see what she is paid. As far as the other money goes Congress with the support of a lot of people have been trying to cut spending. So when they tell a agency that they will receive so much less for money for the next year they start cutting right away. That means jobs etc. the reason is a lot of people believe there is too much spending and borrowing. the borrowing is based as much on less tax dollar as additional spending. They could almost solve the problem by getting rid of discretionary spending and buddy buddy ear marks. I have had first hand experience with discretionary spending. Its a mess.
Bill Babler Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Plug, that's around 30 grand. Just don't believe as hard as she has to work, that it is enough. Especially for the revenue that office takes in. Another point does she get an insurance package with that? That would probably be worth an additional 10 to 12 grand. I sure hope she does. Very nice lady, working just about as hard as you can outside of digging ditches for a living. If I knew she was getting paid more, I don't think I would fuss near as much about the cost of the TWIC card. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Old plug Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Ii am retied civil service i pay $700 a month for me and my wife. That government wide health insurance thing is a gold mine for health insurance companies.
johndarin Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I just got my TWIC card from the office in Kansas City. Took 1 week from start to finish. According to the USCG website for the 6-pack license you have to have a TWIC card in order to get the 6-pack license. Correct, but if you look into it I think you'll find that the TWIC status will not have to be "renewed" when the 6 pak is. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm "pretty sure". FWIW
