How long a leader u guys use? Seems like that would be a pain dragging a centipede around and having to re tie after getting hung up.

If you break off with straight fluoro or mono you don't have to re-tie after getting hung up? That's new to me.

For some applications I like 10 lb power pro braid with a section of about 6 to 8 ft of fluoro leader. The longer leader leaves you plenty of line to re-tie or if you break off. For others I use 6 & 8 lb fluorocarbon. Mono is okay for something like swimming a grub, unless you need to get the grub deep then fluoro helps keep it down. Braid and fluoro offers better feel with less stretch.

I like the Trilene XL in 10 lbs. Throws good and has low memory. It does well for me when tossing tubes and seems plenty strong enough to pull loose a hangup. Haven't tried braid...what's the best for that guys ?

I think he was referring to the potential pain of having to re-tie the joining knot for the braid and the leader. Classic, I don't pinch pennies when it comes to line or any of my gear, for that matter. That said, the best darn spinning reel line I've found is BPS Excel in green tint, 6-pound test. Love that stuff.

The stupid BPS stuff is darn good. I love my Seaguar, but started running some of the BPS Excel in 6# and 8# last year, after Champ sang its praises. Did not break a fish off on it, used it a bunch for shakey heads, Ned Rig, dragging the doctor. Fished it some in the summer in ponds with lots of grass and other cool stuff to throw at. Was fine for wacky and float worms, TX rig, etc.

At the price, you can change it without blinking at the first sign of twist.
