I always caught more fish on foot and generally chose to fish that way even on a float. I think at times it might be advantageous to approach a hole from downstream anyway.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

This is painful to watch...

Dude, just get out and WALK! Good grief.

Holy Crap! I can't believe I wasted several minutes of my life that I will never get back watching that :( People amaze me sometimes. As if a shuttle fee is going to kill you. How much is your time worth? Agree with Brian, just pay the fee.

I am trying to figure out a) why that guy did that and B) why he filmed it ( had to be to win a really large bet) and c) why I watched it.

Looked like a whole lotta not-fun to me.

X 3 on paying the fee.

Actually, good polers can go up some pretty heavy rapids, like you'd find on the St. Francis with moderate water. That guy was in water that would have been easier to walk, but when you've got quite a bit more volume and stronger rapids, poling is about the only way to get up it. I've messed around with poling some, but I'm not good at it.

Dude got a GoPro. Don't know when to not use it yet.

This guy can do it. Can't figure out how to get the You Tube video in the link, but paste this into your browser to see some real canoe poling,

That’s what I’m talking about. Add a fly rod and you have perfection.

Looks like a Mad River Explorer or a Nova Craft...Think there was a Belitz named Sylvester. That is the vid that inspired me to try it.
