JohnP Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 If you could take one trip to hunt waterfowl where would it be? A dream trip/season for me would be to start in Alaska cutting thru Canada, down thru the Dakotas and continuing on south following the migration and ending up in Argentina. Also been thinking another waterfowling trek would be to start on the northeast coast and work my way across the U.S. to the west coast just targeting one of each legal species. Also what birds would be on that bucket list? Mine would have to be the Harlequin, Surf Scooter, and Old Squaw.

Jeff Olson Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 John, I would have to agree with your trip ending up in Argentina! And finishing it of with a dove shoot there! That would be one awesome trip! I have also thought of following the spring snow geese migration all the way from the south, up into Canada!
jdmidwest Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Add one thing to sweeten the pot, Guided Trips for the entire hunt. Just think how tired you would be setting up dekes from Labor Day to Valentine's Day. Don't forget sinkboats on each coastline setup for divers. A great saltwater hunt would be fun and you could pick up some of those coastal ducks. I have connections to do the Alaska hunt, a friend has some land near Portage with a marsh and a blind. He also goes to Fairbanks each year for Sandhill Crane. I just have a hard time dropping that kind of coin for the plane ride just to kill a few birds. But I have always wanted to experience Alaska that time of year. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
duckydoty Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 As far as Alaskan non resident license are concerned, water fowl hunting is the cheapest license of all. $25 for the small game and another $5 for the state water fowl stamp. I would like to get over to New ZEALAND and Australia for some of that action too. The 4 exotic teal of Argentina would be awesome too. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Ham Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 A buddy got back a couple of weeks ago from shooting ducks in the Berring Sea. Weather was brutal, but the TSA was worse. He got his bucket list ducks though. He wanted it and he enjoyed it, but he doesn't want to go back. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Bird Watcher Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Cranes in Central Texas. Northern Saskatchewan/Alberta in October for snows, ducks, and darks. Argentina, New Zealand, King Eiders in the Bering Sea would all be cool. I don't know though. I honestly feel like I'm on some kind of bucket list hunt every time I'm set up on a corn field with about 20 or 30 thousand mallards using it. Set up at noon, Shoot them next to my best friend my Dad, and go home to eat dinner with the family. I feel like I'm living the dream every time I get to do it. I've always been simple like that.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I actually only have one bucket list hunt and that's to go to Mass and hunt sea ducks and the great marsh with a friend of mine who lives there. Other than that im with Chris on everytime im out its a bucket lister. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Mitch f Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Believe it or not I've never hunted Arkansas flooded timber! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
moodyfour Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I would love to hunt the creeks in Montana! It looks so fun with big fat Mallards dropping in with everything around frozen. I also agree with Birdwatcher, every hunt I get to do with my Dad is a hunt of a lifetime. I have been very fortunate to hunt flooded timber in Arkansas since I was a kid and it is very hard to beat doing that wih my Dad and our friends!
