This. Best pond lure ever created.

My vote is the split shot finesse worm or centipede

About half the time it's a fly rod with poppers/sliders/divers, Clousers, or whatever. I'll take a 5 and an 8, and size up or down based on what's going on. If I'm in the tube, it's just gonna be the 8 weight.

The rest of the time it's a 6 foot rod/spinning reel, medium action, tossing spinner baits, buzz baits, shallow or floating cranks, or Texas or Carolina-rigged plastics if the bottom is clean or rocky. Plus a lighter rod for smaller stuff like Mepps, small cranks, marabou jigs. Generally only fish this way out of a canoe.

Well your all wrong thinking there is a best ever created. Each pond is different plus the conditions change. That kind of thinking will cost you fish.

Geez Old Plug. You gotta calm down and quit taking everything so literal.

I grew up fishing farm ponds in southern Oklahoma. They are nothing like the little pools of water around here.

We have a 2 1/2 acre pond on our farm and by far the best bait for all species in there is plain old earthworms. Micro jigs under a float do ok but you will catch a fish on every cast with worms. I can go over there after work and in ten minutes catch 3 or 4 keeper bluegill for dinner.

4-5inch finesse style or senko style bait on a 1/0 EWG gammy rigged wacky......if its april or later. Its important to fish the bait weightless. Pitch it out next to visible structure. Let it sink slowly, dont move the rod at all. After a 10 count give it a twitch. Watch your line...it will just swim away. If nothing after a few twitches reel in and recast. 95% of fish hit on the first fall, no sense in working the bait back to you. Use whatever gear you want, lighter stuff is way more fun.

I don't get to fish any ponds now, but Senkos worked great the last time I fished any. Ponds to me aren't much over 5-10 acres tops and if you can't walk them tube them.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
