Pepe Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 This time Lily had to help because I am a menace near a sewing machine. Not long ago we fished with Matt Reed for a few days and were impressed by his simple, but effective, tool for keeping line spools under control. Attached are pictures of a couple we made this evening from elastic material. The tab makes it easy to remove or move the band. It keeps the line under control but it's easy to pull some line off. Thanks for the idea, Matt.
fishinwrench Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Here's a tip that'll really piss your wife off... Steal a pair of her panty hose and cut them into "rings". Perfect !
blue79 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 i use the the fold up beer coolies cut to size for catfish line.1/2in wide rubberbands for the thin spools of line or i keep the box the line came in..
Champ188 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Neat trick. Are you talking about the Matt Reed from Texas that fishes the BASS Elite Series? I always figured him to be a nice guy. Very down to earth.
dblades Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I think BPS used to sell something similar, at least I've got three of them already.
Members Willyh08 Posted March 3, 2014 Members Posted March 3, 2014 I take the rubber bands that the morning paper has around it, tie an overhand knot in it and loop it around the spool. Cheap, easy, and I have plenty of spares.
Bill Babler Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Great tips. Every line brand that I use comes direct from the factory with the bands already on the spool. They are really nice. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Pretty slick. Will probably sew myself to one trying it.
