dtrs5kprs Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Wonder if that is a typo..."north on" or if it should have been "north of". Some pretty skinny water in places up there, especially for anyone used to running around the bigger parts of the lake. Not meaning to imply that was the case, and hope he recovers fully. But it should be a caution for those who go up there with glass boats. See a lot of folks sort of running around Table Rock with impunity, and it makes the old river rat part of me cringe.
balsabee Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 My guess is it was one of the old bridge pillars in front of the main bridge. They are both above the water line right now I believe. At 9:25pm I guess you could run into it if you don't know where you're at but there is dry land immediately on the other side. I was in there last Thursday and you wouldn't believe how many people were running out of the channel and through submerged stumps. There should be a bouy especially on the pillar on the south side.
J-Doc Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 The need to put a marker buoy on this spot if there is not one already. If someone has hit it, someone else will eventually as well. Yet another accident where no one was wearing a PFD. They are lucky they didn't drown. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Old plug Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 They need to get rid of the pillars. that is why they or going to hold LOZ so low this year. They are suppose to destroy the old hwy 5 pillars to 6 ft below the current water level.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Yet another accident where no one was wearing a PFD. They are lucky they didn't drown. Definitely. Flat and the upper James are probably not the best places to run in the dark.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 yeah the old road bed extends out quite a way. I would imagine in high water it is really a hazard. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 THERE IS SPEED LIMIT FOR BOAT OPERATORS AT NIGHTTIME HOURS FOR A REASON!!!! GLAD NO ONE WAS SERIOSLY INJURED.
J-Doc Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 THERE IS SPEED LIMIT FOR BOAT OPERATORS AT NIGHTTIME HOURS FOR A REASON!!!! GLAD NO ONE WAS SERIOSLY INJURED. Not joking here. Is there really? Is it state specific or national? I haven't heard of it. What is it by the way? My boat can't go faster than 41 with a good tail wind on good chop so I doubt I would be infringing on the limit!!! LOL! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

My boat can't go faster than 41 with a good tail wind on good chop so I doubt I would be infringing on the limit!!! LOL! I didn't spend much time looking, and didn't find the specific night time speed law, but i found a couple of old 4th of July press releases from the MO water patrol making mention of the night time speed limit being 30 mph. Hitting a submerged bridge pillar at 30 mph in a boat would be pretty devastating, I would think. WM
