eyedabassman Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 To reg. my boat do I go to the DNR or Corps.office? Someone told me that I have to Reg. boat Motor, trailer, trolling motor. Is this true?
motoman Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I believe just the dmv like you're registering any other vehicle. At least that's what I've always done with my boats and trailers for stickers and plates. But I don't actually keep my boat docked on the lake; so maybe there's something differently that needs to be done to watercraft left in a slip?
duckydoty Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 In Missouri theDepartment of Motor Vehicles does all the boat registering, titling and licensing. Boat, motor, and trailer have to be registered, not trolling motors. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

Bill Babler Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 How much $$ do they get for Boat,Motor,Trailer plates? More than you would think. You do have the option to get multi-year lic, and that is a blessing. I believe 3 yrs. are available on both the boat and the trailer, and the outboard motor is a 1 time deal for as long as you own it. Good Luck They will give you a handout about your numbers and what is expected. You cannot deviate from the pattern they give you or the style or you will get stopped. 90% off all stops by the patrol are for either numbers or registration violations. Once they have you, every piece of equipment will be checked, so its best to make sure you do this part exactly as they tell you and show you on the handout. Good Luck Again. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Numbers and registration are gonna cost a whole lot less than replacing stolen/vandalized equipment from leaving your boat in a slip. You can read for hours on end right here on this forum about the risks involved with that. Save the money you'd spend on a slip, trailer your boat and you'll be glad you did.
Terrierman Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 How much $$ do they get for Boat,Motor,Trailer plates? Three year trailer = $22.50 + 3.50 for using a contract license office = $26.00 Three year boat = $55.00 + 3.50 for using a contract license office = $58.50 One time outboard motor decal = $2.00 +3.50 for using a contract license office = $5.50 You can go to a State run DMV office and avoid the contract license office fees. Pretty sure there is one in Springfield but it wasn't worth the drive to me. Get a waterproof box and keep the paperwork in your boat. If you ever get stopped, they will want to see it.
Members troller Posted March 19, 2014 Members Posted March 19, 2014 Here we go on the slip owners. No matter... slip or not you need to have boat, motor and trailer registered, so it costs you either way. We always hear about the slip owners , dangers, vandalism etc but the trailer owners/ fisherman never seem to complain about the dock bite when its gets going.Owning a slip does somewhat limit where you can fish economically but its pretty nice to be on the water in 5 minutes .

You give up something to get something! I would like to have a slip in a way,I could have bought a slip when I bought my house in Dec.! It would be nice to go to the slip and go.But I think the critters getting into the boat and maybe brake in's out weigh having my boat on a trailer. And I also want to fish all parts of the lake and I think it would be cheaper to trailer it than by boat.

OK, I give up ... talk about comparing apples and rutabagas ... how did we jump from boat slip vandalism to dock fishing? I simply stated that the new fellow might not want to leave his boat in a slip and risk damage to/loss of his hard-earned property. But you do bring up a good point. Table Rock's docks hold a lot of bass for those skilled enough at casting to get .into th nooks and crannies where they hide.
