Members littlejasper Posted March 19, 2014 Members Posted March 19, 2014 Water temp 48 at 8:00. Caught fish on first stop. Jerk bait was the thing. Transition banks near deep water. Fished from Cape Fair Marina to Flat Creek bridge. Stained water. Water temp was two degrees colder up flat than near Bridgeport?.. Caught several on rig up Flat with 2 nice smallie keepers. Went up James and found mud line and clean water about two miles up from Pt. 15. Threw Wart very little but did catch shorts on it. Ended with water temp at 51.5 at ramp. 7 keepers and a mixed bag of 15 shorts. Biggest was a 3.5 Brownie. Going to get good real quick up there. Good luck....
dtrs5kprs Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Good to see the temps inching up. Flat probably suffered from some cold run off and shallow cooling.
Champ188 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Very nice report. Thanks for sharing it. Ain't it nice to be able to get bit as opposed to 2-3 weeks ago?
Bill Babler Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Very good bass report from the upper James River. We seldom get them from there and it is always a treat. By the way, have any of you guys heard from Snakum? Miss his reports from the James. Wife must have his nose to the grindstone, but she likes to fish as well as he does. Hope all is well with him. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
duckydoty Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I did not know there were bass up the James????LOL! Good report, thanks for sharing! A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Bill Babler Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Duane, did not mean to short you. Have enjoyed reading about your bass exploits also. I know however that if a big fat crappie was biting you would be after him and let Mr. Line sides swim without being bothered. Keep up the great James River reports. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
duckydoty Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 LOL! You are correct Bill. As of right now I would rather chase them slab daddys. Those bass are starting to peak my interest though. I seem to be catching more and more of them while looking for crappie. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
